I had the old style RK surgery done 15+ years ago back when they used a scalpel, not lasers.
Worked great for about 12 years but now my eyes are regressing as I get older and use progressive lens'.
Between my Astigmatism and the RK they wont touch me anymore but it was probably the best 12 years of my life being glasses and Contact free.
I spend a LOT of time outdoors and at work I go from Coolers to oven rooms and not wearing glasses was GREAT!

Sitting here Pete and seeing you in your ninja suit with the headband magnifiers, sneaking into yards. Getting a really good laugh!

Progressives make me motion sick so I have 3 pairs!

Nevertheless while gardening one should where protection glasses ... Who does ? well, me sometimes .
I do wear lenses for normal viewing and sometimes being lazy, I keep the glasses .
Here go some kudos for glasses :
Some 12 years, I went gardening and go figure why I kept my glasses on - No rendez-vous that day :( .
The garden was a bit messy, and I had in a corner of the garden an heavy box that I wanted to move - I bent down to put some extra effort and got hit by an hidden metal bar that was cut at  50/70 cm of height by the former owner of the garden... My luck was that it hit the right part/eye of the glasses in its middle.
My glasses are/were thinned, reinforced anti-scratch treated - or they would be too thick... So they took the hit and didn't break nor get a scratch... Sometimes I wonder, what if, that day I had my lenses ... but in fact, I don't really want to think that I would have lost my right eye ...
A former colleague did have that kind of matter with no glasses, and had only one eye left... He has to change job, as with one eye you can't judge on 3D representation/sight on a garden.

found out what's going on. the fact i'm pushing the glasses toward tip of my nose is that i'm lessening the prescription. this means the new glasses has much stronger prescription than my previous pair of glasses. i was at the lenscrafter last night and they check my old prescriptions and the new one and it seems my eyes has gotten worse over last few yrs. so made new appointment with the eye doc and will go there to see if we can find a compromise. the replacement is free. it wasn't their fault. or doc's.. i must be still young if my eyes are still going bad.

Always playing with the old model trains repairing them soldering wires etc and thats O gauge engines . Sometimes bring out the jewelers loupe to assist when the reading glasses don't cut it.
Course could get stronger reading glasses.

Don't need glasses to tell a dark type from a white type fig though !

it would be the day when i won't be able to tell the difference between the dark and light figs :)
