Hi, here is mine basjoo. I planted basjoo in last monday, and now looks good. This is second years basjoo in ground, so I think that in this yers basjoo should grow well.

How about yours basjoo?

Congrats, that should grow nice for you this year.
What winter protection are you providing?

He was from end of november in the bucket with soil in room with temp. around 18-20C. Next winter, basjoo probably will be in basement with temp around 5C to 10C. We will see. :)

Does it get too big to do this when basjoo older?

They survive here.  Its hard to believe, but a friend nearby just cuts his and covers with a leaf pile and they do come back.    Amazing plant.

Does the person who has Musa Bajoo in SE MI actually get ripe bananas?  Or just foliage?

I think these are for ornamental and some medicinal uses.

I planted two very small pups I bought on ebay  two yrs ago that yr they grew about 12"  in the fall I cut down and mulched heavy  here in zone 5 it got down to -17 one night . I the spring only one sprouted after I removed the mulch it grew 12" again . this last fall I was overly busy and forgot to mulch .. it was down to -18 one night this last winter ...so I an not confident it will sprout. heck .

I would like to get a cpl PUPSs for postage

or trade scion . I have Neptune seedless grape .  a few apples. pears . daylilies ?

It's a foliage specimen only.

I have a couple I bought last fall and have grown indoors all winter. In may they will get planted outdoors and I will just cut em back and mulch em in the fall to protect them in the winter. They are supposed to grow back every year.

I also have an Ice cream bananna I bought last fall and have grown all winter. Its about 5' tall now. 2 pups have also sprouted and are about 12-14" tall. Am hoping to put it out for the summer then bring it back in for the winter and maybe get fruit next spring indoors? Not sure if that will work. Right now its in a 15 gallon pot and am going to transplant that into the largest container I can find. Am hoping it will get to 12-14' next winter indoors and then I can harvest from my 2nd floor balcony indoors. I have a passive solar home, southern exposure and 17' ceilings.

I have fruit on mine right now but they are not edible.
