OT Native Plums and beach plums

Does anyone grow Prunus Americana or Prunis Maritima? I am looking for seeds from either one of these trees or bushes.

P. Americana is native here. If you remind me this fall I might be able to send some seeds. I say might because the late freezes this year may have wiped out all the fruit.

There are usually a few people selling seeds and trees of Prunus Amreicana on eBay. It’s however considered to be invasive as it’s root suckers form a thicket. I planted two seedling Prunus Mexicana this year which is similar but does not sucker. For fruit quality you are better off with a Chickasaw plum if you don't mind the suckering. It will also form a thicket like Prunus Americana. All of the above are self fertile. I believe Beach plums are not self fertile.

I have two Gutherie Chickasaw plums which are grafted Chickasaw plums which do not form a thicket. They are in their second season and growing like crazy with lots of fruit set even in the desert.

Oikos Tree Crops sells seedlings of many varieties of native plums. I think the Wild Goose Plum looks interesting, but mine are young and I will not have fruit until next year

Oikos is great.  Good product.

I have P. americana on my property.  It does thicket, but also forms beautiful old trees with lovely twisted trunks.  I've come to just cut out the places I don't like and trim the suckers.  I, too, will have seeds/suckers if interested.

Thank you for the replies. Although I know that native plums will sucker they also make great root stock for other varieties of plums which here in Maine will make having suckers worthwhile.
