OT - need persimmon trees

Anyone want to barter for persimmons and fig trees?

OK, take my mother for all you've got, they may not survive here but I'll take the chance....

What kind of persimmons? And what are you looking for ?

I am open to all the persimmons.

Check every Lowes and Home Depot within a reasonable radius.  Lowes has Persimmons for like 20 bucks right now and they are probably 5 feet tall.

TN,
thx, but if their persimmons are as bad as the figs they sell I'll pass. I try and buy from people who grow super premium stock as trees equail a serious investment in time, etc.
My experience is nothing they sell is of premium quality and I have found infestation issues several times in the past.
I know that cheap pricing is very tempting but if they are selling for $20 the grower most likely got less then $10 meaning he simply can't afford premium dirt, root stock, fertilizer, etc.
I'd rather buy or trade with a member on one of the forums who takes pride in their home garden and has spared no expense to grow trees he's/she's proud of.
But thank you for the heads up.
And remember -- put a $10 tree in a $100 hole and buy the absolute best stock you can afford.

Sent you an email.

In the above you sounded desperate to find some persimmons.  Lowes has great trees in my location, even great fig trees for our area just mislabeled too often.  I bought several Persimmon trees from them and they all produce beautiful leaves and fruits.  They also have a year long policy on their plants, if it dies or has been labeled wrong you can bring it back for refund or swap it out and you can do this as often as you need to.

TN,
I'm not sure why you read desperation in my post.

Mislabelled trees are just about exactly what I don't want and a one year replacement policy is not at all helpful to me.
If I buy a tree and invest the time and soil into planting it I don't feel at all satisfied if the tree dies or turns out to be mislabeled and I can get it replaced by digging it back up and driving the 23 miles to Lowes.

If I don't even value my time I'm still loosing money just on the wear and tear on my vehicle.
Wasting my time and funds as many times as I need to is just not an incentive at all.

Maybe your Lowes is the exception that makes the rule or maybe we have different standards in the trees we grow.
I'm not a fan of Lowes. They don't allow dogs, their warranty on their tools has gotten worse and worse over the years as has the quality of their plants. I used to buy plants at Lowes until I learned more about growing and realized I could do far better.

I'm not trying to get into an argument with you so let's just say we have very different things we look for.
I appreciate your time and concern. Please don't be offended because I'm not taking your advise.
thx,
mgg

I planted about 25 Texas Persimmon seeds a few weeks ago and following the University of AZ study on germinating them. I can hit you back up this fall if you're interested in seedlings, assuming I don't mess this up completely.

Thank you.

I can get you sionwood of several varieties(asian, spanish etc)

I have a bunch of saijo, imoto fuyu, and jiro trees- 5-7 ft tall for sale. If you want them, you'd probably have to come to Lancaster to get them because they are way too large to ship. If interested, let me know. I am open to trades for fig trees. I just thought I'd throw it out there in case you were willing. Von stops by occasionally and could probably pick them up if you'd like to PM me. If this is not agreeable, no problem, but I always like to assist folks that love persimmons the way I do. They are so delicious and underrepresented. Thanks, Bill.

Bill,
Have you set a price? Open to barter?
Tell Von to call me as I have not heard from her.
thx,
mgg
