JoAnn, I'll keep praying. Thanks for taking the time to update. She must be in a lot of pain.

Tragic, things like this are so unfair.  Wishing the best for her.

JoAnn,

Prayers are on their way. Please do not try to settle with the insurance carrier without reputable representation.

Sending good thoughts and prayers for your Mom and your family.

Thank you all. She has had some movement, but it just may be
reflex. They did an EEG yesterday, we will find out the results today.

I am trying not to think too much but that is not as easy as it
seems.

I have gone too the scene of the accident on Saturday and yesterday
to see if I could make sense of the police report and to ask people who work
in the if they saw anything or know someone who saw anything. Some family and
friends and family think I was wrong because the important thing is getting her
well.

Although that is true, there is nothing I could do to help with that. I could ask question
and talk to people who work there. I have to feel like I have been productlve even if I just got the name of a companies van that was at the scene and were questioned by the police. That wasn't in the police report and I also found out the police were there for 3 hours or so taking pictures and doing other investigative procedures. That wasn't in the report either. The report reads like a 5 year old wrote it, directions are wrong and the witnesses stated that she was "running " across the street. I find that unlikely since she had knee surgery and was not able go briskley let alone run at the age of 79!!!

That's it for now, I 'll be in touch.

Jo-Ann

JoAnn,

We Catholics often look to the Saints during times of trouble for intercession on our behalf.

Reading about your Mom, I am reminded of the story of St. Rita of Cascia who, during a difficult illness near the end of her life, asked a cousin for the impossible: to go to her family garden in the dead of winter and pick her two figs. Going there, the cousin found a dormant tree, but one with two ripe figs upon it, just as Rita has predicted. Since that moment, people especially those of us who are of either Italian or Latino heritage, look to St. Rita for intercession on their behalf during times of great or impossible difficulty.

I will do so for you and your Mom.

Joe

I'll light a candle for you this evening. Good luck.

Oh wow, sorry to hear that...prayers headed your way.

Thank you all for your prayers.  I appreciate it more then you could know.  I came back home on Wednesday night, I have to get back to work.

She is holding on.  They found a small clot in her right lung and put a filter so no more can get in.  They do not want to use meds for fear the meds will cause more bleeding in her brain.  they took her off the ventilator and did a tracheotomy - less chance of infection.  They are also going to change the feeding tube for a more direct route.

My brother and cousin were there today and said she moved her lower lip (brother said so) and moved her head (cousin said so), and my sister said there was a tear coming out of her eye.  She struggles with the nurse when the nurse tries to do oral care, she had a small gag reflex and her eyes are responding a bit more with light.

I don't know if these are good signs or not.  I am trying not to think about it in that way - I just pray for God to do the right thing by her whatever that is.

Please please please - if you don't have a health care proxy, health care power of attorney or whatever it may be in your state/country - get it done!!  My Mom had spoken with her attorney to change her will and health care proxy within the last couple of weeks and, she had not signed them yet.  I bet she was going to do it either after the dentist or the next day.  Talk to your loved ones, spouse, children and or whoever is in your life about what your wishes are.

You don't know what tomorrow will bring.

Jo-Ann
