OT Pomegranate Scion

I just got mu UC Davis order today and it included several pomegranate cuttings. Probably in the 16" long range.

Do you cut them before rooting or root them whole?

What is your preferred method of rooting?

On poms that I bought when there was a branch broken off I just poked it in the dirt and it grew. Any advise is welcome.

i cut mine in three. it won't fit my humidity dome without doing so.

I cut mine in two and just stuck in soil in a shaded area of my patio.  I had rooted a couple other Pom cuttings a couple of months ago the same way and they had no issues rooting.

I typically cut the ones from USDA in half (when I cut my own I cut them about 12" long).  I wrap the top 4-6" in parafilm and stick the rest in potting soil like ProMix HP.

I got two little cuttings 5 inches cutting  I roote them together with the figs... well, the figs did not make, but I have 2 little  poms now in cups.

Thanks guys and Grasa! I will try them outside then and should have pretty good luck.
