OT - put in a bid

Congratulations!  At least you should get some good photos of the dogs.  If you can hire some high school students that might help your stress levels.  What was the final deal on the roof?  Is the tree bearing figs to welcome you?

Nichole - that is fabulous!!  I am so happy for you!!  And those girls of yours are soooo helpful;)

I hope everything else with the purchase goes smoothly.  Just remember everyone gets a bit emotional - even the title company under the right circumstances.  Just breath deeply and keep counting.

I bought the house we had been renting for an embarrassing amount of time;)  Everything went well, didn't have an inspection since we had been living in it for so long lol, had to jump through a few hoops with my lender, still not bad, THEN................... the closing was going to be new years eve day, then it wasn't, then it was, then it wasn't, then it was - all of this during that week!  Finally I found out the day of the closing from my landlords assistant that the closing was that day!!  HUH!!!  The title company had me in tears while I was at work.  By then I was too busy to leave they were at least an hour from my job - they said "can't your boss let you leave for an hour?"  I told them "I worked at least an hour from your office - can't you bring it to me?"  NO!  Well we did something we shouldn't have - he sold it to me before I bought it from him.  They did the selling part on New Years Eve, I went in after the weekend to buy it -  oh well, that's real estate.

I am working towards becoming an investor, with some cash and the right deal I will be on my way.

One day at a time. One hour at a time. I had all these grand plans of getting so much done today but I fell asleep instead. I have no energy as I am insanely anemic at the moment.
We're hiring movers for the actual move itself but everything still needs to go into boxes. I hate having a messy house and moving is messy business. One day at a time. One hour at a time.

I'm hoping to have some nice, tasty figs ripening up in a month or so on that pretty fig tree :)

JoAnn there's been so many ups and downs with this stupid house I am not going to consider it mine till we have keys in hand. And then the nightmare of selling this house. MOVING SUCKS!! But good luck with your investor adventure :)

Bob, with the roof the middle ground was a 5 year roof (with warranty) and the John Deere riding tractor mower with attachments thrown in. We'll need to put on a new roof sooner than we'd hoped but my husband and I decided this house was worth that hassle.

Best of luck with it.

Congratulations  Nichole !! Moving is no fun , but happy you got the house. Take care of yourself too !!

Got the keys today!!

Here's the pups exploring the house and yard for the first time. I think they like it.

And I checked out the fig tree (it's behind the pups in the first pic) and there were lots of brebas that were ripe or near ripe. I am happy to report that my pretty new tree is a Desert King

Congratulations!!! That fig looks absolutely divine. Lucky you to have a fig tree welcome you home. Enjoy!!

Nichole,

Glad it worked out for you. Your girls seem to be happy too.

I have a promise to you to fulfill. You get settled and we'll take care of business later.

But,,,
All that work you put into your yard???

Congrats Nichole

Nichole, we've followed your ups and downs, the hope and the
frustration...
Congratulations!
No house is perfect, even the perfect looking ones have hidden
issues.
All the beautiful work you did at your old place will be a great selling
point, and in time, your new place will be touched by your creativity
and passion. I, for one, fully expect photos of pups on tractors!
Take care of yourself, eat lots of raisins and liver (if you're not a vegetarian)
to boost up your Iron.
May your house feel like home real soon!

Blessings on your family and new home Nichole ! So very happy for you .

Congrats, Nichole, hope you are feeling better.

Congratulations!!!! Must feel great!

Oh, I know. My yard. Sigh. That's the one sad thing about this move - leaving all the hard work behind. But - this new place will have things the old place didn't and ultimately this is where we'll be happy so that's how I'm able to reason with myself to keep me from getting too attached to my fruit trees ;)

Today we moved fig trees. We brought (nearly) all pots from the back yard to the front and loaded them in my sister's truck and my SUV. We drove the back roads to the new place to avoid the freeway. I didn't want naked trees from the freeway speed winds. Everyone arrived safe and sound without any leaves lost!

While we did that, my husband ripped up carpet. It smelled heavily of stinky febreeze so I was very suspicious of animal urine. Sure enough, animal pee soaked the carpet, pads, and the subfloor. Goodie.

Rob left Violet a patch of carpet so she can eat her bones in comfortable peace.

Tomorrow, more packing. Monday is the big move.

We have moved all our stuff over - so many boxes to go through! Moving is for the birds. I am never doing this again. I will be buried in my back yard when I die! My husband has the fun task of pulling out the thousands of staples in the floorboard. Another problem we have is we can't get rid of the febreez smell in the house even after the carpet was ripped out. I think we're going to have to paint the walls with KILZ to get rid of the perfumey smell. I have a headache every day from it. Bummer.

This weekend we get new laminate flooring where that ugly carpet was. Can't wait!

Oh yeah, and I also learned my sweet, angelic little Violet (pup) will chase a deer like a bat out of hell. A fence is high on our to-do list

Congrats on your new home! We just purchased a house also and moved in 4 weeks ago. I feel your pain and I still have boxes to unpack in every room. If I have to move again I'm just burning everything to the ground and starting over!

Plain white vinegar will neutralize the animal urine but not sure if it will help for the perfume stink.

Here's my raisin in the sun. The guys are coming this morning to start our fence installation! Enjoy your new digs!

Hi Nichole,

For the smell try one of those air purifiers, some of them have really good reviews. I know how it feels to have a headache from perfumery smells. Good luck!
At least the deer won't get into your garden thanks to your pup! Lol!

Congrats on the new home, Nichole!  Just imagine...you get through this transition and you can then relax and enjoy everything.  Just remember there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm hoping the 9 fig trees in my yard will be a good selling point when we decide to move.  That may be the deciding factor for some!  :)

JustPeachy - your Raisin is adorbs! I love pics of sunbathing dogs. They always look so pleased with themselves.

As for the smells, I have tons of baking soda out and I've been doing a lot of cleaning with vinegar. We also have an air purifier going non-stop. It smells less but the perfume smell is still there.
The family room is done and we now have new laminate in. No more urine smells! Looks great. I'll post pics later.

All the figs are set up in my back yard. A couple got a little grumpy with the move and have dropped leaves but they'll survive and will do even better next year. Here's most of them lined up along the patio. They really miss their automatic watering system but rain will soon be around the corner.

Welcome home!

HOME SWEET HOME !!
