Guys, be prepared! Hide your little ones for sure!

...The National Weather Service is reporting that the severe winter storm will hit Northern California hard when it dumps up to 7.69 inches of rain in the Sierra Nevada and more than three inches in the Bay Area.

...Forecasters say the Northern San Joaquin Valley, Sacramento area and Sierra Nevada could experience widespread power outages and flooding.

...

In Los Angeles and Ventura counties, the cold storm will bring 1 to 2 inches of rain along the coast and 2 to 4 inches in the mountains and foothills Thursday night into early Friday, Meteorologist Scott Sukup said.

"It will be a pretty significant rainfall event for us," he said.

Periods of moderate to heavy rain could last up to six hours, increasing the risk of debris flows in communities recently scorched by wildfires. By Friday morning most of the heavy rain will diminish.

I saw on the news last night you guys were going to be getting some much needed rain. Seems to be feast or famine, or more like forced feeding or famine. I imagine this will lead to mudslides also.  The same storm system is supposed to be bringing us some moisture this weekend, I'm sure by time it gets to us it will be bled of much of the excess moisture. Spokane WA is supposed to get 9-13" of rain,  at least this is an area that deals with regular rainfall, but can you imagine?

Our dogs are looking forward to the swimming pool that they've always wanted in the backyard.  :-)

We already had considerable rain last week and I would prefer a bit of a break before more rain (have water puddled in alfalfa fields still), but it's certainly beneficial for our water storage situation.  Glad to have an automatic back-up generator!

I am only expecting .91" of rain, ho hum....better than nothing but way, way short of what we need.

Sue, do you collect rain from your roof into a tank?  Joe Sabol of SLO has tanks totaling something like 10,000 gallons.
