Yes, all the same guidelines apply. As with figs, everyone has their favored method so go with what works for you. Though I will say my experience with figs thus far, they are much easier than rooting camellias, maples, or other woody plants I've tried. I use a perlite and pine bark mix for this sort of thing. It's been a couple years since I rooted camellias; we moved to a new house that had a dozen or so 6-7' in size (not too common for Dallas) so I played around a bit. My recollection is that it took about 4 weeks. Also, use rooting hormone.
