My largest paw paw tree is only 2 feet tall so I have a few years to get some fruit :(.   I have seedlings from a native variety in my area and also of VE-21 which I hear is good. I think paw paws are excellent!

I've got a Che tree in a pot and for a few years it just dropped it's fruit. Last year it held on and I got my first taste. I agree with you re the taste, but Bass says it needed more time to ripen. I had to pick them as it was mid November and a frost was coming. I assume as the tree matures the fruit will ripen a bit earlier as with figs. As for the Pawpaw, I have 4 trees planted, but I'm probably 2 or 3 years away from fruit. Thanks to Bass I have tasted Pawpaw and it is fantastic!
