Sounds good Alan.  I started mine later so have to wait until next year but still excited about growing it.

Just picked a few figs for the festival tomorrow.

Was a wonderful gathering!! Dennis you are a great host!! And Jackie is a delight, loved her impression of you eating a fig. Look forward to chatting with everyone again soon.

Thanks for a great time.  You will never live down Jackie's impression of you tasting a fig.  Too funny.  Amazing collection.

What the heck... I missed another one :(  I hate I missed it, guess I should log in more often. I hope you all had fun.

It took us nearly three and a half hours to get back home and it was nowhere near enough time to talk about the fig fest. Dennis and His lovely wife Jackie are awesome hosts that opened their home and hearts to us all and made us feel like part of their family from the moment we arrived. The food that everyone cooked up was first class, "them figs" were something else and the games Dennis came up with very very cool. Dennis' collection is nothing short of amazing containing anyone's wish list times ...... Figs most of us dream of and some of us don't even know that exist!!! I can only imagine of the amount of time and effort it takes him to take care of all those precious trees and they all come with a story that Dennis can tell on demand. In the end we all left with more than one new figs(like Dennis promised on a previous posting), a bunch of new fig buddies and one unforgettable memory. Thanks once again Dennis, Jackie and all you great friends that made this a special day. Looking forward to the next one.

Oh and Jackie,
The reenactment of Dennis nearly passing out after tasting that fig ....... PRICELESS!!!
Sincerely
Chris,Eleni and little miss Gabby K

Thanks for the kind words guys! Don't listen to Jackie. She was fibbing!!!!!!! She didn't think you guys were going to show up. I'm surprised at the locals that showed up, Kate, Samantha, Mohan, and others. I'm glad everyone took home some trees.

I wish I took more pictures. I know Mike took some. I'll post some tomorrow. I have to convert them under 1M.

Hey Chris, I'm glad you guys arrives safely. You have a beautiful family young man! Cherish them!

I got something else to send you. I'll contact you for your address when I get it.

Alan, Sharon and Gloria, now you guys know where I am. Every day after work, I am outside tending to my trees. So, call if you wanna stopt by. Gloria, I'll call you next weekend. I got something for you. Sharon, you will see me next Saturday at the Paw Paw festival!

The Charlotte fig gathering was just too awesome!!! Had a great time meeting a number of nice Forum members. Most of all our hosts Dennis and Jackie were just too wonderful. We need more people like them in this world. What a great southern hospitality. Dennis gave away more than 10 of his priced collection of fig trees as raffle prices. While for most of seasoned fig growers it probably is a simple thing, it is a such an act of selfless sharing with community. THANK YOU DENNIS FOR ORGANISING SUCH A GREAT EVENT AND BEING A WONDEFUL HOST.

Dennis gave us a tour of his fig orchard and I am still in awe. He stated he had 254 trees but I think he is incorrect and has lost track of how many trees he has. It almost felt like 500 trees. And the forum members were so delightful and wealth of knowledge to discuss figs. I had a blast and people that could have made it but missed it, you truly missed a great event.

That sun and all the good food wore me out.  Just woke up from a nap to check out all the pictures

Guess I need to update my list again.  Thanks to Dennis  Lynhurst White is off the list.  Of course I do have to add a few more.

Hi Alan, let me know the details of the pawpaw festival. I will try to join.

Many thanks to Dennis and Jackie for hosting the Fig Fest. It was awesome.  Kate and I had a wonderful time. Great to see some of the people from last year's fest and great to meet some members who were not present last year and a super opportunity to see many of the figs we read about in the flesh.

Yes the fig fest was awesome!!!!! Thanks so much Dennis for hosting a great fest.
I think it has launched me into full fig-addict mode... oh no!
I'm usually a lurker here but had to comment on how much fun I had :)

Dennis and Jackie, thanks so much for your hospitality and great food, not to mention the patience and enthusiasm with which you showed us your beloved plants.

Indeed it was a wonderful opportunity to meet all the fig enthusiasts in the area and those who traveled 4+ hours to share their experiences and have fun. It's amazing to see that when people care about something then distance doesn't matter anymore. It was nice to see the people from last year as well as to make new friends.

Cheers!

Dragos

I'm glad everyone had a goog time. Here are a few more photos. Thanks to those who took pictures. Some photos might be repeats.
