OT - Stella Cherry Tree

I have no news of ripening figs yet. This is the pacific northwest, after all. But I did harvest cherries today! I planted Stella last year and this year I got about 30 cherries. The birds didn't find them but Violet (my pup) sure did. She wasn't allowed in the back yard without supervision while we waited for everyone to ripen.

Very good little cherry. Did great in my climate if anyone in a similar climate is looking for a tasty sweet cherry.

Little imp

Cherries usually take a few years, you must have bought a mature tree... congrats on the harvest.

Maybe? It stands about 6.5 feet tall right now if I measure it from the tallest branch. It's not huge but it's not a baby either. I'm shocked the crows didn't find them.

Oooh I love cherries! I got blueberry and grapes(ruby and concord), wanna trade?

The caliper of the tree is more indicative of age than the height.  Anyway, enjoy them while you can. Once birds discover them, it's over (unless you protect with netting)...

That's a fair assessment :) I didn't think of that.
I have netting and plan on using it probably starting next year on that tree, but I already need to use it for my currant bushes.

Howie I don't know if you're joking or not...not sure how to trade cherry tree cuttings? Haven't researched such trades before.

oh wow.. i love cherry.. they look delicious!!!

I'm in the coastal Pacific NW too. The Stella grafts on my cherry trees outperform all 5-other varieties.
I got scions from a guy who had Sam grafted onto his 2-Stellas and every branch is totally
loaded every year. No other variety I've seen is so consistent. Just my observation.
As an added bonus,  Stella is moderately resistant to bacterial canker.

I'm serious, I think it'd be just like fig cuttings. Your dog is soo cute. OT can you guess what mine is doing?

I'd guess a catch pole or flirt pole. Bully breeds are great athletes. Here is a picture my boy Rocco trying to catch the rope.

My first thought was flirt pole, too. My pups love themselves some flirt action :)
Both those pups are adorbs. Nice and fit.

Howie I'm game. I assume dormancy is the ideal time. Not sure if I'll be in the market for blueberries or grapes but I don't mind giving you some cuttings at the appropriate time. Just bug me sometime in the future to remind me.

Actually he's jumping for joy because I told him I wouldn't neuter him! J/K he's jumping for a piece of bread.

Adorable doc pics.   I love cherries too.
