i'm thinking of getting some kona brewing variety pack tonight. their longboard was awesome. i like hoegaaren to begin with and this thing is even better than hoegaarden. who knew islander can brew amazing beer like this? of course Guinness is always in the pantry. laying off on hard stuff this weekend. too many things to do. 

Hey Pete, I agree with you on the Longboard. My current choice is Russian River Brewery's 'Damnation'. Hoppy, lightly bitter, smooth... also liking Eel River brews. Many great, local beers around here. Here's to the weekend!

Is there such thing as a bad beer?  They all have their place in my heart. From The lawnmower beers as in the light American Lagers to the best microbrews. Well I guess there is PBR, I would nominate as bad, based on personal history a long time ago.

Aloha, everyone!  If you like the Longboard, you gotta try the Big Wave and Koko Brown beers.  Fire Rock and Wailua are also on the money, but BW and KB are exceptional! Aloha in a bottle!

I don’t think anyone minds if you post what you are drinking, regardless if milk or whatever.  I do believe folks are tiring of your smart ass comments just like this one with no other reason that to get under someone’s skin.  I don’t think your making many allies with this. I really don’t know you,  or had any communications positive or negative with you but it seems like recent you have a fig up your ass and acting like a child not getting the attention he wants. I sure hope you are feeling better soon. I don’t  really think I’m that sensitive, but your little jabs even if not directed at me are annoying.  If  you don’t want Drama don’t play it up.

The only way I drink beer is if it's incorporated into a pitcher of Margarita.  1 Cup fresh lime juice that you squeeze from the limes in your yard, 12 oz 100% Agave Tequila (if it says gold...it's for the gringos...headache in a bottle), 12 oz water, and a bottle of light coors.  I forgot 1 cup sugar or splenda.  JD is diabetic, so splenda works for us.

Old Rasputin, an Russian Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing Co. Among the best, perhaps The Best, in the world. If you like Imperial Stout and haven't tried it, you owe to yourself to find a four pack ASAP.

On the fruit side, I've been enjoying hard cider quite a bit this past few months. It helps that there is a renaissance brewing in the hard cider world that has coincided with, more likely was sparked by, the gluten free movement. Samual Smith's Organic Cider is dry and crisp and Crispin Brown's Lane has a nice brett funkiness (if you like that aroma in your booze) that makes it stand out form the cider crowd.

brandy is good. wine is good. anything with god given alcohol is good.. even Beer's Black is good :) 

started with Kona Brewing Co.'s Fire Rock IP. slight aromatic hop signature. very light to id what it was. unlike other "modern" american micro brewing movement, this IP had pleasant flavoring hope that did not overkill everything. however, this brew was lack in complexity in any shape or form. easy drinking and pleasant, but if you are looking for something with full malt, this ain't it. probably go well with seafood.. maybe nice crawdad.

then moved on to Big Wave GA. also from Kona. nice light head settles in to thin film on the top of the pale straw ale. very citrus nose. can't really figure out what it is.. maybe grapefruit? this also carries over into the flavor of the brew. light and refreshing. little too light. also will go with white fish. maybe paste with cream or butter sauce.

still have few more to go. :)  

I brewed my own beer for 30 years. Started when I was 16. I need to pass on my 5 stainless 5 gallon kegs to someone who can use them.
I had friends from Holland who thought my beer was better than anything they had in Europe. They would walk right to the beer fridge when they came over. I was repaid with Hungarian ( my wife just reminded me it was not from Holland) Pear Brandy ( painter thinner IMHO) har dee har har...

whiskey is good too. i prefer whisky.

homebrew are much better than commercial brews. there are few reasons for that. after few batches, you know what you want and how to go about getting it just right. you don't pasteurize the heck out of your brew. and you don't filter your brew.. of course that is if you don't go that far. 

i brewed my beer from simple malt syrup brew to full grain. i enjoyed all my friends homebrew as well as they mine. but when there are so many good choice of beers out there.. not sure if time spent is worth the effort.. yeah.. it does :) i miss homebrews. 

last of the kona variety pack.. Koko Brown... dark beer. i think the color might be what europeans call "cafe americana". sort of dark, but not exactly.. stout/porter dark. i'm not sure what this exactly is. maybe my palette is dead at this point, but i'm not picking much out of this brew. nope. nothing. 

i can say out of 4 different Kona Brewing Co.'s brews i have tried tonight, i would drink Big Wave and Longboard anytime given chance. i would love to try them on tab. they are both refreshing and very enjoyable. however, Koko Brown and Fire Rock didn't do much for me.
