OT: that time of the week again. name your beer.

Looking for some Lagunitas Brown Shugga Substitute Ale. Until I find it, I'll be workin' on my Serria Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA. I still have my fingers crossed that Stone builds their East Cost brewery in Charlotte. I would love to have some local Arrogant Bastard.

Zywiec Porter is easily available in nearby Garfield NJ at $26 for 20 500ml bottles. So good and so inexpensive. If I drink it for any length of time I turn into a parade float.

best beer i had was on my honeymoon in london. believe it or not, i don't even remember the name of the brew. i went for a pint while wife was taking shower.. i asked for a pint and they pump the heck out of their beer engine. i took the first sip.. WOW. full malt, no nasty sharp hop. it was pure golden liquid.. truly.. it was a liquid bread.

have you guys tried Mississippi Mud?  I remember they used to come in Clay pitchers with hand painted labels on them, nowadays (at Trader Joes) they are in dark glass pitchers with plastic lapels. Still taste great.

aaron,

i have not seen mississippi mud in about.. 10 yrs. that thing is amazing. i'll have to hit trader joes looking for it.

just noticed my post count is over 6000. reason to drink one more.

Highland Brewing Co. OATMEAL PORTER or their Gaelic Ale...life is too short for bad beer

"How about them figs"

Yuengling Traditional Lager.  Yuengling is America's oldest brewery - in operation since 1829.  A superb lager.

Hi all,
Leffe Brune on the table :) , Santé !

I'm drinking a large bottle of Chimay Grande Reserve right now and it's kicking me around....I never have had much of a tolerance, but I keep trying.

Shailesh at there you go keeping the forum etiquette by at least posting a fig plant !

Looking forward to fig season and more pictures from forum members.

switching gear tonight. hard cider. i wanted to try Strongbow at the irish pub down the.. well, i live in NC, there is no such a thing and pub down the street. back in flushing, there were bars down the street, here.. either you drink at home or risk getting pull over driving to the bar. anyway. at the irish pub that i frequent when meeting my buddies for few pints. but they were fresh out of all the hard cider including Strongbow. so when i saw it at the supermarket, i grabbed a six pack.

honest truth is.. it's not a bad cider. not a great one, but drinkable. i haven't had hard cider in some time. it seem now there are few choices in the market. back when i used to drink them, it was mostly hornsby's cider.. and one or two more. well.. i gotta finish it before i can go back to hornsby.

Hi all
I drink Rolling Rock when it's warm and when there's a chill in the air I'll switch to cognac or Scotch.

Pete, If you like dark beer. One of my favorite porters is made by Great Lakes Brewing Co.
My favorite is Edmund Fitzgerald. Actually I'd recommend all of their brews.

As of a half hour ago I start my two weeks off work, what should I have to celebrate pete?

Vinho Verde and sushi

Black Madeira.

So has anyone had the opportunity to try a fig beer or maybe make your own? I heard it doesn't make the best beer...

been thinking about fig beer. fig by itself won't sell. there has to be something else to accentuate the fig taste. maybe cane sugar. type of fig should be something like Hardy Chicago with good fig taste. CdDs or other figs will only distract from figginess. light ginger might help. mild to heavy malt with light hop signature...

I had a fig brew at a local brew club and tried Mother Earth's. Both were ok but I think I prefer them separately. I'm hoping to start a fig mead later this summer. I think that would be a better brew.
