OT - Very painful injury

Oh my gosh!!! Dennis, Im sorry that you had this accident! I can only imagine how painful it was. Ice, rain, snow...its all dangerous. I had a fall down the steps about six months ago and i thought i broke my foot. Thank God i did not break it but just a very ugly sprain. It hurt for months and, it was black & blue! Speaking of ugly...gosh that is an ugly swell! I will keep you in prayer for a quick recovery. And, thankfully, your boss is considerate enough to let you work from home. I'll keep checking for updates on your recovery.

Ouch! Don't be in a hurry to heal up.  Take your time, rest, follow the doctor's orders and get better.   I wish you all the best.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Dennis. Take care of yourself first, plants can be replaced easily.

Navid.

Easy does it, take care, as it looks extremely painful. Positive thoughts and prayers for you.

All good wishes to you for a speedy recovery.

Richie, that picture is of the right side of my lower back. It was twice that size and long 2 weeks ago. My wife said it looks an alien is about to pop out! Lol

Dennis your wife described it perfectly, it does look like an alien trying to bust through! Sounds like you and your wife opt to always keep a sense of humor about things, which is awesome!! I sure hope you recover quickly my friend! It sounds like you are already on your way to feeling better.. Just don't catch a cold or watch any comedies for the next few weeks at least! Lol & KEEP ALL LAUGHING TO A MINIMUM! Capisce?? Lol!

Dennis, that looks nasty.  Take it easy, as you can't do much else. Thankfully it wasn't worse.

Hope you are back to normal real soon!

Best wishes for your fast track recovery to full form.

In Ottawa it is very frequent occurrence and more so from December until March, whenever temperature gets over freezing for a prolong period or it rains followed by normal freeze. Waiting rooms in Emergency wards in the hospital gets packed with people with cracked bones. We are told to watch every step for balance if it is urgent to step out. I just visited a friend with a fractured thigh bone. Next door neighbour had a sprained ankle two weeks ago.

Despite all the warnings during these time I do see many neighbours coming out to give their dogs a walk outside, some being pulled by their dogs for a bit faster speed.

Yikes!  Hope you heal up fast with no lingering issues.

get well

Hope you get better soon, I can sympathize with your pain, I broke my back in 2010, also a dog induced accident (we met each other at a blind corner, he (120 pound mastiff) was at full gallop, not his fault I had been calling him and thought he was the other direction, and I landed on bricks wrong too).  Your break does not look bad to my untrained eye, mine was what was described as a split compression fracture of L2 (a rare type from what I have found in my research), basically the vertebral body cleaved just about in half right down the middle top to bottom.  I spent 4 months in a full turtle shell brace, and am just now getting back close to being 100% a bit over 5 years later.  There were numerous landmarks along the way, first time being able to bend down and get something off the ground, first time getting out of bed without rolling onto my side first, first time catching something that tried to blow away in the wind, first time running (meaning more than 2 or 3 rapid steps, still not any real distance, but I never was much of a runner...

What an awful experience! I have chronic lower back pain and can somewhat relate to what you're going through.
You might ask your doctor about Meloxicam. It's related to Ibuprofen, but works better, at least for me.
My physical therapist has me sleeping with a pillow between my legs and another pillow at my waist to keep the vertebrae and as level and supported as possible. There are whole specialized movements she taught for turning over in bed, pushing up and standing up that have really helped me.
Best of luck with your recovery. Hope you feel better soon.

Thinking of you, Dennis, and hoping for a full and speedy recovery!
