Dennis, Sorry to hear about your injury and hope that your back heals fast!

Last week, I Broke my foot  in four different places and I'm out of action for at least the next 6 weeks. I was trying to prepare an area to plant some fig trees on one of my properties and pulled down a lose branch from a native pecan tree. I couldn't run fast enough as it drooped on my foot.
Since I'm unable to even go outside for a while, I will be watching a lot of episodes of AX men.

Please get well soon, Dennis.  As Ottawan had said, Ottawa also sees quite bit of freezing rain/wet snow which can make the ground like a ice skating ring afterwards.  I broke my left wrist while breaking a fall earlier and still nursing it.

Take care!

Bill

Sorry to hear of your injury - hope you mend quickly, Dennis!

Fortunately they're not dangerous but they are super painful as you know better than anyone else right now.  Good luck getting better super fast!

I have lived in cold places ( MN IL MI etc.) and some not so cold but dangerous when the rain freezes like VA...

Can't tell you how many times I slipped...it's scary how hard it is to walk on ice ( ya think?).

Glad you have a good prognosis...stay safe and heal quickly...spring is comming, take heart and take it easy.

Best wishes on a speedy recovery Dennis!  Before you know it, it will all just be a memory.

Oh my! I have so much empathy, as my sweetie is partially paralyzed from a fall that resulted in a spinal cord injury.

I hope you return to a healthy, active, comfortable state very soon.

Wow, Dennis! I guess you're lucky it wasn't worse, but that's small consolation considering how bad it was. Hope you heal quickly. Maybe it's time you thought about moving to Tucson--very little ice, and all we shovel in the winter is sunshine.

I'm glad you're not hurt worse.  Tell you something, if you can take Turmeric I highly recommend it.  Has helped me incredibly with joint pain and my back. Those pain meds make me have bad dreams.

I wish you get well soon

Well, my doctor can't believe how I didn't break my back! I have been taking turrmeric 3 times a day the past 6 months along with some other supplements. I'm still in some pain but I am able to drive now and walk around. Tomorrow I go back to work but I will take my ice pack with me just in case!

Thanks again everyone!

Sorry to hear this Dennis - hope you are recovering quickly and completely.  Wish I could be of some help!

Glad to hear your doing well Dennis.

John

Get well soon Dennis. Do not carry heavy things

Sorry to hear about your injury Dennis. Wishing you a quick and full recovery.

Dennis,  How very unfortunate.  Take care and get well quickly.

Ouch! Speedy Recovery Dennis!

Dennis. I'm really sorry to hear you had a fall like that my friend. Ouch! Glad to hear that you are recovering though.

Like others have said, take your time about doing things. Give yourself plenty of time to heal up properly. It may be hard, but do your best to be patient until you have your full strength back. You certainly don't want to aggravate things - could make recovery time longer. I'm no doctor but have experienced some (minor) back injuries myself. The inclination for me was always doing things sooner than I should.

Sorry about the unsolicited advice. Just wishing the best for you. I hope your recovery is soon and complete. Hang in there.

What a terrible fall!! Please feel better soon.

yaoweeeee. Get better! Just had hernia surgery myself Monday. saxonfig is right. be patient. I broke an elbo and wasn't patent and it turned into an elbow replacement.

Yikes! Well, get better soon. You know, if you lived in desert Arizona, you wouldn't have to worry about slipping on ice. No, I don't work for the Chamber of Commerce or the Tourism board. Although now that I think about it, you also wouldn't have to worry about winter protection for fig trees... Hmm. Well again, heal quickly and well, best wishes

It hurts just to see the pics! So sorry you are going through this, but that's great you have such a positive prognosis! Take it easy and be patient with yourself!

Turmeric is a great anti-inflammatory.  Do you cook with it as well?

I hope you have also increased your protein intake, dark leafy greens, fruits such as berries, papaya, pineapple and how  could I possibly forget “FIGs”, if only they were in season.  Green tea wouldn’t be a bad idea either, if you drink tea.

So glad to hear you are making progress, although slow. Activity is very good in the healing process, just don’t go too fast.  No setbacks allowed!

Your figs are calling, but you will just have to let them call a little longer.

You really did luck out…even though it doesn’t feel like it.

Take care!

That first week I had the injury, I stayed home. That second week I drove work in pain.....45 min drive....wishing I was home in bed. The next, I stayed home and went to the doctor. The doctor told me not to go back to work. He gave me a 3 week excuse. The next day, I skyped my boss telling him I was bed ridden. He asked how bad was it, so I sent him that picture of my lower back. He said, WOW.....now I understand!

I did go back to work this week. It wasn't bad. The longer the drive, the quicker the pain begins again. It's been almost 4 weeks since the fall. The first 2 weeks weeks, my lower back was numb. Now, the numbness is gone and other parts of my spine are popping up with random spots of sharp pains. But they come and go. Spring has sprung here. My indoor trees are fully awake and I have to start moving them out. I got all out of the shed. Rain from the southwest is coming this way on Sunday. And I have to get these guys out and give them a dose of water and fertilizer. It's time to call my son over and put him to work. And I have about 10 trees to plant in my orchard and 23 PawPaw's to plant. BUT, I will take it slow.
