OT What is this Asian fruit? 3", looks like a potato, orange-brown inside, tastes like a caramel pumpkin

I found a local Asian store that had ripe, delicious Rambutans.  Next to them were trays of 4 fruit each in stock for the Chinese New Year celebrations.  They were ~3" in diameter, round to oval, brownish, thin skin, burnt siennaish, orange-brown pulp with a sweet taste like carmelized pumpkin.  There was a single seed which looked like a dark brown almond.  A few lanceolate leaves were included.  Can anyone tell me what this is?  It's delicious.

JD, the fruit  from your pic --- In Malaysia, it is called "CIKU" in local language there. Very nice & pleasant flavour. Sweet too. As a kid, I grew up picking the neighbour hood Ciku tree and sometimes got chase off by older kids. Most larger Asian grocery stores in North America carries such exotic fruit. Rambutans are delicious when freshly picked. The also come in canned form. There are many varieties of Rambutan.

JD, I have a feeling they are found growing in Florida. Wife is there now and she is very happy to enjoy so many locally grown fresh fruits. Too bad she can't bring them home.

Mamey sapote? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamey_sapote . The taste of mamey sapote is described as pumpkin pie like, or sweet potato.
