OT: what's in your pocket?

i go on blade forum occasionally to see what new knives are out. they have long running thread on what the people carry everyday. i change my pocket content now and then, but not too often.

here is what's in my pocket today.

Is it just me or do you have 3 bottle openers?  I do really like that knife though, what is the make?

Very nice.  Is that blade the Damascas Steel? How does it hold an edge?

chivas, yes.. 3 bottle opener with one titanium pry bar in case aluminium just doesn't handle the job. the knife is Kershaw Skyline Damascus.

figaro, i have no idea how good the edge retaliation is. that knife only comes out when i'm dressing up and most i cut with is some threads coming out of my shirts. for heavier job, i carry following.

this cuts through cardboard box like a butter.

What?  No flashlight?

Pete,
I sell on Arizona Custom Knives occasionally. It's a good site for shopping. Have you ever been there? Lots of consignment stuff.

I have a Kershaw speedsafe I carry every day.  I used to carry a small Gerber, but I recently misplaced it.  I loved that little Gerber, easy to sharpen and holds its edge.  The Kershaw holds an edge pretty well, which is somewhat surprising being made in China.

i usually go for US made Kershaw or ZT. but some japanese spydies are nice also.

bob, i would get a flashlight.. but i have no clue which ones are good. and my cell phone has led light that's rather bright. doing some research to see what i'm going to get. or i might just get a new knife.

GET-ER-DONE!!!

some of us don't always have pockets. i have a nice belt knife, the buck woodsman, with a very nice sheath.

not much for you afficionados but it has good steel n keeps a nice edge

Where is the wallet with the famous Circle raised mark?  LOL
...oh, those teenage years...

knife comes very handy. it's for cutting things. and there are lot of things that needs to be cut.

this is what else i wear on my belt for building stuff. it holds a hammer or screw gun. pretty girly, right?

Chapstick, various cards(ID, debit, gym...), and my phone.

I keep multiple knifes in my truck, a few in the boat, and a Gerber 600 Magnum in my hunting pack.

I always have pockets.  I wear scrubs.  Pockets everywhere.  Always the cell phone (in case I fall down the hill and need help).  Usually a random ripe fruit or two.  Sometimes I shop hands free with just my ATM card in a pocket.  I love my scrubs!!  I even cut them off in summer.

There is a hole in my pocket, so whatever else was in there is gone!

Pete, I carry this Streamlight Microstream every day. You can see that the paint is wearing off. This thing is bullet proof. Also has a lifetime warranty and priced nicely.

art,

i really like to get US made lights, but they are so expensive. they are well made and lasts forever, but i don't have the coins. times like this, it's very tempting to sell figs.. lol

i'm looking at few highly rated chinese flashlights using AAA. they are rather solid. titanium is within reasonable price.

The best place for flashlight info

And the best guy to buy flashlights from.  He soups them up to be much brighter than stock

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?140-Vinhnguyen54

Check out his V11R - infinitely variable from 0 - maybe 900 lumens.  He has a slightly larger one that goes up to 1500 Lm.  And much bigger ones that push out 6000 with 12000 soon to come.  He's got flood lights and spot lights and combos.  I rarely buy any other.

Here's a great small light - 500 Lm from a single AAA size Li Ion and a little less from a NiMH - prototypes are available now with the real thing hopefully soon look under products/in development for torpedo, the AAA light (or smaller with his custom Li Ion 10220 battery) and Zeus, the AA light.  Threads discussing them can be found by scrolling down here

For a cheaper version check out the AA EOS 3 which can produce 460 Lm on high with a Li Ion 14500 (AA size) and can also use any other AA size battery.  The diffuser for this is also useful.  Neutral lights produce less eyestrain and let you distinguish colors more easily.

Get caught with that knife in NYC and you got some fast splainin' to do!  New York's "Finest" frowns on such possessions, especially if concealed.  Wear a knife like that on your belt, out in the open...and you'd still have some splainin' to do.  Gun and knife possession in NYC is a risky business.  The ultra-liberal, progressive, mind-set, has infested this stinkin' city, and policy, for years....and, it shows.

For those of you who have lived around guns, rifles, and knives all your lives...you couldn't even begin to imagine how bad things are for legal gun owners in NYC.  There is no Second Amendment in NYC.  Having a knife with a blade that's "too long" could also get you in a heap of trouble.

Frank

growing up in NYC, i always carried... 10" chef's knife or a camping hatchet. some of my friends were packing. back in early 80s, long before 9/11, officers were very selective in what sort of issues they wanted to get involved with. as we used to say, "don't get caught, dummy".

v11r seems to be a very good light. along with few simpler ones like armytek partner and others. i'm looking for very simple light. qdg tiny aaa ti vii, or maratac copper aaa. i'm done playing ninja :)

I have a wallet,
and a knife,
and my keys
and a .25
and a thing of tic tac

dang it rafed... i knew i was missing something... breath mint!!!
