OT-She's Here!! Luce, new family member in 2 weeks!!

Hi everyone, as most of you know, my little bird Dino died several weeks ago, I wanted to wait before getting another one.

So, we are not getting a bird, we are getting a puppy!!  We puppy sat for her a couple of days ago and of course we fell in love with her ;)   I was thinking of a shelter dog or rescue, but this little girl is right next door and she needs a nice loving home.  Talk about convenient!

Edit 3/8/13

We got her last Friday for good!!  New pictures are the last 3 - she is so darn cute!  We started puppy training classes at Petco last Sat. and the other customers just loved her.  She is the smallest and youngest in class, doesn't care about it and even went up to the other puppies that were HUGE compared to her!  She had a vet visit a week and a half ago and was 2.2lbs - awww.  I weighed her on my postal scale and she tips it at 2lbs. 12oz. (or so)

JoAnn....It will definately help heal your heart.  My wife and I went through the same thing about 5 years ago.  The only thing that helped was another pup.  Best wishes to you and your new pup.  She is really cute.

joann,

that's a very cute puppy :) what's her name? what breed is she? lovely color coat too :)

Who wouldn't fall in love with that puppy, very cute!

Joann

Really cute! Based on the TV remote, that new one is REALLY a puppy! breed type? Some kind of a Spaniel or Terrier? Bet of luck!

From a freezing cold day here in Maryland.

Nice looking pup! I like her color and curly fur. She can protect your fig trees from the tree rats! LOL!

Cute.....

Jo-Ann,
That's cute - what is it? It looks kind of like a dog only smaller.

Its Adorable wow.

That pup looks like a freakin teddy bear I love it she almost looks fake that fur is awesome.

Jo-Ann!

What a sweet little puppy!  I LOVE that you got the puppy!  We all want to know more about her.  Just know, puppies love to chew (like human babies) on all kinds of things... including blinds, shoes, sofas and anything they can get their teeth into :-))  They love to play tug of war with a knotted rope!

Teach her tricks!  Would love to see them!

She is very sweet!  Lucky you!!

:-))

Congratulations!

Thanks everyone!!! We will have her in about 2 weeks. She is a mini poodle but according to the growth charts she might be a toy! She weghed about 1 1/2 lbs. That night.

It is a good thing for us to have a 2 week space so we could get all of the puppy stuff - crate, playpen, toys, and of course time for me to get my puppy head in the game for training.

Glenn has been wanting a dov for years, I have been the hold out due to time and $$$.

Now with Dino gone and a puppy next door, I think the time is right.

Her name is Luce - light in Italian, according to the dictionary.

Congrats on your new fluffy friend :)

when i was growing up my lil sis had a toy poodle. he was full of energy. used to go against my uncle's doberman pinscher and made much bigger dog look silly. :)

It's a win win.  A win for JoAnn and a win for Luce  : )

That puppy will bring you so much joy!  I'm very happy for you!

We are very excited about this little pup!  She has already lightened our lives.  Growing up we had a mini poodle and a toy came a few years later.  Great dogs, sweet, gentle, playful, and very smart.   It would be nice if she stayed on the smaller size, but a little bigger will be fine too ;)

Neither of us have owned a dog for quite some time, and a lot has changed over the years.  I was planning on crate training and having a play-pen type set up for her during the day so Glenn wouldn't have to worry about taking her outside for her to do her "business".  Also training on the pee pads and getting a bunch of toys -  for her not me lol.

If I have missed anything or if anyone has a suggestion or two I am all ears.  I'm glad I have watched The Dog Whisperer over the last few years!

Viv, so sorry about your beloved Sandie.  It never ceases to amaze me how these animals burrow their way into our hearts and souls.  Years ago my family had a dog with kidney failure - it was so sad and the decline was so quick.  I brought her up to be put down and made the mistake of holding her while the vet administered the shot.  She wasn't mine, more of a family don but she really loved my Mom.   Take some time to grieve her loss, I did not take time when Luna died.  Glenn insisted I get another bird right away so I did.  His intentions were good and loving but I still should have waited.  You will know when the time is right to get another.

I love Cesar!!  Don't like the new shows format, but I love The Dog Whisperer!  It is amazing how he handles them.

She will get a lot of love, hugs and kisses - after the discipline and exercise;)

I put a doggie door on the side of the house. I have 3 Long hair Chihuahuas and one is always needing to go out to fertilize the yard. I fenced in an area just around the house about 90 X 150 feet so they can come and go as they please. If it's possible for you to do the same it would make life easier for you and the pup, no accidents in the house in case everyone is gone too long. My neighbor did the same thing but on a smaller scale, I think their 5 dogs (Yorkie) have an area of 10 X 15 to do their business. Maybe you can do something similar, it is something to consider. The only drawback is my dogs love to eat figs and in the fall they bring in figs that either fall or that I took off and threw down because they burst opened and spoiled, then they bring them in and chew on them leaving bits and pieces that get stepped on making a sticky mess. Even with that said having the door outweighs the cons.

Viv, you are so right!  I just look at the picture and smile!  One of our favorite shows is animal planets Too Cute!  Puppies, kitties and now other critters are jumping on the cuteness wagon.

I am also  working on posting video of her playing!  Check edit in first post.

She's adorable!

she's cute

Happy she's finally with you!  What a little sweetie!
