Hey peeps, just wanted to drop in a line and see how everything is going. all of my trees had winter die back but all but a few have started back. these test to find figs for cold zones gets rather redundant after awhile.

unfortunately things are not going the best with me health wise at this time. 2 months ago a 15+ mm kidney stone was found stuck in my left kidney. over 12 years i have passed more than 100. to make things worse they say this stone is to hard to crush like they do with most. so the 28th i be going under the knife so they can cut that puppy out. the docs are saying that with a stone this size and as many times as i have gotten them along with other symptoms that they think i may have kidney disease or an auto immune disorder, RA and Lupus have been tossed out as possibilities but know one knows anything for sure at this point. i know I'm in pain, muscles hurt from the fibromyalga they said i had 7 years ago. but know all my joints feel like they are being pulled apart along with chronic fatigue.

well any who. hope all is well and the pics of fresh figs come in soon.

Fig wood has only been found to survive -9C (15F).   Any other expectations are dreaming in colour or believing some of the yarns out on the internet.

So although most figs after being killed to ground will throw out new shoots from below/close to ground you will be lucky to get at best a few if any figs from the new shoots. 

What works for me is growing the cold hardy fig(s) of my liking protecting them as best as I can (or have time) for the winter. 
With this I have been rewarded with tons of ripe figs.  The better I protect the fig trees that year the more figs I get to enjoy.  

But all this silly talk anyway. 
What counts is that you get well soon so you can enjoy this fun hobby.

You sounded like you have been thru alot. Hope things pick up from the surgery and hope its the last! Speedy recovery and take care! 

Sorry to hear about your health problems.  A kidney stone has to hurt really bad.  Also people get gallstones.  None of this sounds good.  What makes Kidney stones happen? 

I do research on my own health issues, but I do know Oil pulling can get rid of many toxins.  Google that.  Google Oregano Oil 100%, not the cheap stuff.  I always look for alternatives.

Figly, mine are all good.  Surprisingly it's kinda rainy and overcast today here in Fig Heaven, AKA Southern California.  My figs are a little confused.  Should be hot now, but it's not, so they are just feeling their way.  I have huge Brebas wanting to ripen, but it's cold.  I have fig cuttings sprouting from the earth where I plant them, but they sit stone faced.  Not growing yet.  Too cold.
