Martin,

You just keep that crappy weather up there, we don't want some!

Cecil, I'm with you - we are supposed to cool off for 2 days, and then back into the 90s again. It has been the hottest summer in many years here. I am definitely ready for fall.

Cecil, The cooling off a bit will be a blessing but it's the drying off that I'm most thankful for.I just might be able to finish my project, and get back to fishing and gardening.

Hi Jon,

It has been terrible around here too, what with the darn heat and the 3 weeks of heavy rains!I have been following along with your weather ya'll have really having He?? out there.

Hi Gene,

Yes we don't mind it cooling off around here, and no rain is also welcome at least for a while.

Them Redfish are tearing them up on our Gulf Coast areas!
But I think you might be the fresh water kind of fisherman, ain't nothing wrong with that.

Right on with the fresh water fishing, but I usually give the reds a shot or two. The speckled trout are just about to make there inland run and should be showing up with the cooler weather.

Then it will be planting my potted trees into the ground, they should be dormant by then.

Nothing wrong with some fried specs, grilled red fish mixed in with the sac-au-lait and catfish, once and a while. I know one thing, this fat boy is ready for some cool weather.

HAHA

I like that JA

Same here! (199 lbs of it) (me)

This Fat Boy is ready for some cool weather too! I used to fish, mostly saltwater, but my son in law does a lot of fishing, but doesn't like to clean them. Guess who gets them?

I don't understand why catch 'em if you're not gonna clean 'em? He doesn't understand my fig addiction either! Always asks me "don't you have enough fig trees?" I always say no, of course!

I am guilty of a lot of things but!

Not cleaning good fish is sure as heck not one of them!

I can clean a fish 4 a gnat can swim a dipper:-)

i can't wait till the sun isn't so damn sweltering. it's been very tough this year for me working out in the field. anytime we have good overcast weather you can find me out there digging holes :).

Alright enough of you warm climate guys !
I have my large trees out there shivering in 35mph wind gusts with temps in mid 50s , i have my little guys huddled up against the shed for shelter outta wind, it may be 55 out there but feels real cold with that wind.
C'Mon Candians how about chiming in vs these warm climate folks who i would love to give them warm climate folks a blast of our air !

I often think of the fun and less work ( no containers , maybe a few )  it would be growing in 1 of those nice warm climates.

All in fun gang.

Martin,
you jus better not do that...

Only 88 today lol Cecil common dont tease us northern folk.

Who Me Nelson?

Yes Cecil you pour guy you lol 88 is summer time here in Toronto 70 and im already outside topless drinking corona lol. Send some of that warm weather our way.

Dont mind me im just jealous thats all. We had 4 weeks of good weather this year

Wish we could send you guys some warm weather. It's supposed to be 66F tomorrow morning and 63 Wednesday morning. I can't wait. I save most of my heavy outdoor projects for Fall/Winter. Hardly ever gets below freezing here, 25F once in a while. 40's/50's/60's during the day most of the winter. I've got quite a few more figs to plant and a couple more split rail fences to put up--nothing big.

Not to brag or make you northern guy and gals feel bad but I would not trade our south La. weather with any of you north of I-20 for nothing in the world. One or two light freezes in the winter is all we get. Worst case scenario is two days of frigid weather that y'all turn loose now and then and drop our temp to the teens. That only happens once in 7 to 10 years. Last time was the winter of '05, we had ice and snow for Christmas. Talk about a rarity. Hope it's another 10 years from happening again.

Hmm perhaps us north growers can give ya all another White Christmas , perhaps a INCH OR 2  which we call a DUSTING.
Just enough not to harm figs as it can snow at 34 or 35 depending on the air aloft but just to give yer figs a little shiver and a sneeze !
Oh and here are a few i picked today but thats about it for me this season, they were pretty good and saved some for daugther when she gets home. I grab stems shove whole fig into my big trap and discard stem.
They get nice color up North too......  ; )

I posted a picture of my snowstorm last year
it was terrible! It was about 1/4 inch thick on my mulch under my fig trees.

Hey Cecil,
go see the reply of what i think about your so called snow storm !

 ; )

Martin looks great but I'm getting sick for some figs. Like someone else said a while ago, I don't want to rush the few years I have left, but hopefully we have a short winter.

Hey Martin & Cecil, we got cold winds & rain for the rest of the week plus single digits in *C during the nights & mid mornings expected. Some areas expecting snow. Season is definetly over. You can feel winter is around. However, I am thankful I had a great season this year. Now, I can stay focus on fishing for about a month then it gets rainy & brrrrrrrrrr.

We had frost here in Ontario last week about 1hr north of Toronto. Its been real chilly here these last couple days and the wind and rain has not helped. My Colasanti fig thats in my balcony 11th floor has been beying tossed around by the wind for a week now and still looks happy seems to be a tough plant.
