Beautiful photography of a beautiful fig!  Flavor profile please?

Thanks Francisco!

I went to Portugal once.  A cruise ship.  We booked a tour.  Loved it.  Froze!  Didn't know the mountains were so cold!  A tourist from England saved me.  She had this little flask and she poured some in my coffee!  Good memories.  Wish I had known about figs then.

Suzi

Thank you Suzi !
These brebas picked at their ideal maturation are sweet, fruity (cantaloupe?) and fresh!
Although being very large fruit, you seem to always find room for  one more... and another one....
Problem-:... the birds. They always arrive first. Best tasting is at sunrise naturally cooled  and before the golden orioles!

As for visiting, you probably did it up north!... not so mild in winter. South Coast is better  all year round... may start now with all spring fruit .. (Kadota type brebas to show up soon) ...through  to November for those generous, free wine tasting parties on St Martin's day !?!

Winters best for the citrus and sea food lovers.

Great pictures....nice figs

Francisco, birds are always around.  I even know the cadence of a few.  Do not count me in the bird lover category. They are enemies of all of my fruit trees.  An enemy must not be loved.  I try to sing back to them with what I think is a threat.  Do they leave?  Nope!

The possums and the raccoons are another threat.

We just deal with stuff and hope we get something good to enjoy!

Suzi

Great photos!  I'm with DesertDance, what do they taste like?

Hi Don,

Aim not keen on describing fig flavors and taste but did my best to respond to Suzi's question, and said that...

..These brebas picked at their ideal maturation are sweet, fruity (cantaloupe?) and fresh!

This is as far as I can go.

I am sure they go very well with any breakfast, dessert or at any time.

My fault for not showing the insides of this San Pedro brebas.
Here they are...

A full amber/pink sweet pulp.
Of particular interest is one very similar variant of this San Pedro variety, ripening their brebas exactly one month after these.

This is to say that we shall have these large juicy brebas for roughly two full months (June and July) with Lampeira nr2 being somehow sweeter.
