Cecil, probably not as it had started the process of ripening hence the mahogany color and the size was there also inside was somewhat red.
Now i have tasted my worse fig and learned my lesson as i tend to do stupid stuff a lot out of curiosity. Let me tell you quick story before i mention the fig its a good laugh and its on me.
As some know here i smoke a tobacco pipe thru out the years and enjoy it vey much, well every once in a while i sit down with a bunch of pipe cleaners and Q tips and bring out the 190 proof grain alcohol, cleans em real good the tobacco goo inside the shank of pipe and the stem as well.
One Sunday early morning i was doing this , i was curious for the longest time what the stuff actually tasted lie, oh we have say around the table when young playing cards on a cold winter day and passed a bottle of 151 rum and even would pour a little in the cap and put in center of the table and light it for kicks as it would hold the flame. So i went and got a shot glass and filled it with the 190 proof grain stuff and all at once downed it. I bent ove immediately and gasped then strenghtened right up and that when the burning sensation kicked in from my throat to what felt like the very bottom of my gut and it burned good. I said to myself you have to be a doggone fool to do something like that. A few minutes later i had a splitting headache that lasted a good part of the day. Lesson learned .
The italian fig tree that for 4 years gave me 1 ripe fig was another lesson learned but deep down inside i new better BUT just had to do it.
Plant in its 3rd year as usual started to drop its figs as usual after they turned a reddish color and started to shrivel, well i said why not try one for the heck of it, so i picked one and as i do often with my others i eat them right off the tree. I did the same with this and Cecil i bet it tasted as bad or maybe worse than that one you had .Lesson dont go against your better judgment when you really know what the outcome is gonna probably be.
