OverWintering Concerns

Hello I live in Toronto Ontario and currently have a few fig trees (Black Mission, Hardy Chicago, LSU purple, Stella, White Genoa) they are all in pots and have been brought into an attached garage for the winter. However, the garage is not insulated and not heated, thus I planned on wrapping the pot and tree first in burlap and then with really thick insulation(the natural one if it makes any difference). I was wondering if this would be sufficient enough for the trees to survive the cold winter? If it is not any suggestion would be greatly appreciated?
Thank You for all responses

It would be helpful to know what the average temp of this garage is during the deep of winter.

The garage is huge and would be virtually impossible to insulate because of its largenes. Secondly the basement idea would not work as it remains very warm (room temp) in the basement and would for sure cause the tree to break dormancy. Thank You for your suggestions, anymore would be greatly appreciated?!

Here's an idea off the top of my head.

Try to find wooden pallets that shipping companies use that are hollow, not the solid plastic ones.

Get some house insulation from the box stores. stuff the inside chambers of the pallets.  Takes nails or screws and make a square going around of 4 pallets on there sides. Put plants in and top off with another insulation stuffed ' PLACED' not screwed. This way you can add water if needed in winter months to keep from drying out.

Top with moving blankets for added insulation.

Just an idea. Have not tried before, but in theory should work. If the ground is too cold to sit pots down on, just use another pallet and make a full box.

Thank You very much for your replies. I may try the box idea. If anyone has anyother suggestions, let me know
Thanks

I also live in T.O
You could pick a corner in the garage ( preferably at least 1of the 2 walls being an interior wall ) and get 2 inch foam boards from home depot ( 4x8 ) and one on top making an insulated room . Then if needed hang a light bulb in there for heat .
