Just passing on some information, or ideas...
If you go to the Garden Web and search for "Solar Pool Covers" you will find information on how to use these covers to keep small greenhouses warmer in the winter months.
This idea might be exploited by those who live in bitter cold climates. The photos posted show small, 6 X 8 ft. mini-greenhouses using these solar covers. I would imagine that you can store many containerized figs in such a little greenhouse, or perhaps erected over you favorite, but vulnerable trees. You could probably make one of these little greenhouses out of PVC pipe, and knock it down for storage each year. Just don't use glue on the joints.
Anyway, I thought this idea might have some merit for some of us fig growers.
