packing for long shipment

hi, would like to know, does anyone of members in here, that already make a successful shipment (about a month more or less of delivery time).

how you guys treat the cuttings and how to solve problems with the packages?

is it enough to retain moisture by using paper towel and plastic wrap?

regards
Dodi

If the cutting is freshly cut and in good health I would say your best bet would be to just wax the cut ends and just wrap tightly in saran wrap.

Moist paper towel for 3 or 4 weeks is just asking for rot..

@tylerj : thanks for the infos.

how your treatment suggestion for pre-shipment and after receive the package?

If you have to keep them for awhile before shipping them just store them in the fridge (wrapped and ready to go - but check on them periodically).

If the cuttings are more greener when they are received they might want to rehydrate them by soaking in water for a few hours and then air dry them and either root them or rewrap them and put them in the fridge if they are going to root them later. Older wood cuttings should be fine though and won't need to be soaked. I do that out of habit with all my cuttings I receive... giving them a little soak.

Food saver may be a good option

For shipping reasonably few cuttings with long transit time I usually choose straight cuttings and tightly wrap them individually in plastic 'Cling Wrap', making sure cutting is not wet. I do the same for long duration storage if I have to store.

Wrap tightly them individually in saran wrap is just enough.Make sure the cutting is older wood cutting or matured enough, not green cutting.Green cutting could easily rot/dehydrated.
