Panache

I'm finally settling into my new home and loving every minute of it. I planted my first fig tree last weekend, a Panache, and it seems to be doing great. It has a dozen or so figs the size of a quarter. I planted it right outside my kitchen so I'm only a few steps from fig heaven. ;-) I plan to get more in the ground this fall along with some citrus and stone fruits. I didn't realize how much work 2 1/4 acres were going to entail. Talk about weeds but I'm enjoying it! Where's that round-up...

I put in an owl nest box to help control rodents (I do have a barn owl!) and a bat box to control the insects (no bats yet). I'm putting in solar and have had 2 patio covers installed. I've had most of the home inspection findings corrected as well. Lots done but lots more to do! I've been busy!

I've attached one of the many beautiful sunset photos I've taken from my back patio as well as a couple of my Panache. :-) More to come as time allows...back to work...

Wonderful Sue !!!
Please post pictures when those ripen for you.
Keep the pictures coming when you have the time.
Many thanks.

Looks great Sue. I'll be in CA in 5 days. I hope to see such great sunsets and great figs. "gene"

Glad to see that you surfaced. 2+ acres of weeds - I can only dream.

Martin,
I'm hoping the Panache will ripen. I bought it last year so I'm not sure how old it is, it's 4' tall. It looks happy to be out of the pot too.

Jon,
You re welcome to come 'play' in my yard ANY time! Bring a tractor! Actually the weeds are whacked down, just maintenance and planting and squirrel hunting now. ;-)

Gene,
Be sure to stop by next week! I'll throw something on the barbie...I've been practicing!

Sue

Well Sue,

Looks like I will be in the area same time as Gene.
Maybe we can ask Jon to join.

The Sunset pic is breath taking!

Rafed,

That would be great! It will be fun to have a mini West Coast gathering of fig friends.

Sue

Great, Sue.
I hope you enjoy many panaches and other figs at many such beautiful sunsets & more.

I really lucked out on the sunset view. I didn't realize it had one this grand. I never saw the property in the early evening during escrow. You should have heard the OMG's the first night it was mine and I experienced the sun setting here for the first time. What a nice surprise that was! :-)
