Ed anxious to see more pictures !

Is that a UCD cutting?  I have one that has survived so far.  I'm afraid to look at it sideways let alone transfer from the cup it is still in.

It took 4 years and a lot of help from Jon to get my UCD cutting to actually grow.  After his advice and 4 years, we now have 6 new leaves, and the potential of many more.  I wanted this one because UCD says it tastes like strawberry jam, and is an incredible fig..............  So. I bit the bullet.

Here's a comparison of three Panachee cuttings, and an Early Violet cutting.  All started at the same time, from UCD stock.  Panachee is a very slow grower, but all the cuttings have taken root.  The Early Violet has grown much faster than Panachee.  In fact most of my other vas from UCD, that I started this year, have grown faster than Panachee.  I sent one to Nichole, but it developed mold in the package and she had to destroy it.

I'm anxious to see how these cuttings make out over the next few years.

It's funny... I originally had this variety on my first (2005) UCD list.  I dropped it off the list.  Since then, when putting together lists of varieties to order, I purposefully avoid Panache.  The best part of this story is:

I DON'T REMEMBER WHY I CUT IT FROM THE LIST!  I don't even have a clue.

James,

They say memory is the first thing to go,  I can't remember what the second one is.......

How long is the average for getting cuttings from UCD ?
I ordered some cuttings about 2 weeks ago, and nothing yet.

They are not like Amazon where you send in an order and they send you the item.  The cut-off date for ordering is I think Dec 1, and then the cuttings are taken over the winter, or whenever they prune their trees, and eventually sent out. You won't get your cuttings, and perhaps not all requested, till sometime maybe in March or April or ? 2013.

As to Panachee, I just started some cuttings clipped from the parent tree about a couple weeks ago, and the first one is showing roots. :):)

They usually arrive sometime in March.

Dan if you order 2 weeks a go you will get them in March of 2013.
