Panache 8-21-14

This was from a cutting back in 2012 of Panache UCD. This is the first fig from that tree. I appears from the bark on the tree and the fruit that it has reverted. Anyone had this issue and is it permanent? It was sweet with only little flavor. It is not quiet the crimson red color that I have read about either. We did have 1.5 inches of rain yesterday.

I saw a panache with regular striped figs on 1 branch and yet the other branch on the same tree had green figs no stripe.

Was it just that tree that was genetically unstable or is the variety unstable?

Mike,

It's been the observation of others that once the branch is reverted then it is just that. If only a fruit or two between the striped fruit then I would buy too much into it.

Jon has a large Panache tree at his place.
One side is what a Panache is and on the other side it is completely reverted.

But the Panache is known to lose the stripes when ripe too. Was there ever any stripes? Even faded?
Are there any stripes on the fresh new branches?

Can you post close ups of your tree?

Rafed, I dont believe it ever had any stripes on the fruit. I do remember stripes on the new growth after it rooted and was potted. Here are some pics.

The fruit and leaves have the shape of a Panache. Looks like you have a reverted.
At this point all you can do is keep it for its' taste.

If mine didn't suffer so much I'd give you something. But it too just started to grow about two or three weeks ago.
This season is shot on it.

Rafed, thanks for the info and I certainly understand. I just received a PM offering me cuttings so it should work out.
