Panache pics

This Is a small 1st season fig tree I received from Bass in April. It started to put on figs about a 3-4 wks ago and they are just starting to show some striping, also the trunk has stripes. I'm hoping to taste 1 or 2  this season

Sal,
There is a big difference in our climates of course. I had two ripen a long time ago. They were very tasty. Mine had stripes very early. There are 4 or 5 more but they will never ripen. They turned hard as rocks months ago. The night temps here are in the 40's and low 50's, really no hope. They have atrophied.

Good luck with your's and let us know how they taste. Hope your's taste good.

Peg

Thanks Peg, I am looking forward to watching these mature. Weather has been a little cool at night mid to high 60's but days are still 80+ and nights are warming up again, we still have a few months of warm weather here for figs to ripen

Sal,

I was lucky enough to enjoy one when I visited Jon earlier this season.
It is a very good looking fig tree and the fruit is very tasty.

Wish you the best with yours.

I got one myself earlier from Jon and it is about 18" tall now. Hopefully next year it will produce and be lucky enough to get a couple of ripe ones.

Keep us posted

Sal, I'm glad it is thriving for you. I remember when I sent it and how it looked then.

Bass it amazes me how these trees grow once they take. It was very slow going for first 2 months no noticeable growth and then bam it started to put on leaves and growth and has not stopped. Here is a picture on July 20 it was just starting to show good signs of things to come

Nice looking tree Sal!  When I got mine this Spring, it was in sad shape.  Now it is twice as tall and has a few figs trying to get ripe.

BTW, something is wrong with the photo uploader....it won't let me upload any pics.  The error I got said, exceeded file size which is not true.  My pics are 980kb.  Oh well!

Dennis I'm not sure if picture problem has been corrected as I use Photobucket but other members have mentioned same problem.
Thanks for the compliment. Not sure if these will hold on and ripen but I will give it my best shot as I've picked off any new little ones. I also plan on topping it soon

Hi Sal, good job---your tree has done well. Mine is in ground a full two seasons. I had beautiful little striped figs too, but had a lot of rain continuously for days when they ripened back in August, so they were tastless and mushy. I was ashamed to post pictures, lol. I'm sure it will improves with age and will be best during dry periods(as with most figs). Good luck with yours.

You know what Sal?  I forgot about Photobucket!  Ok, let me paste my pics there and show you my Panchee.

How's it going Tim?  My Panchee was in bad shape a few months ago.  I had to nurse it and give it cough medicine and place it in the shade.  Here are a few pic today.
