Panachee on steroids

I just noticed the growth on my UCD Panachee fig tree I started from a cutting last year.  The old lignified wood is seven inches from where it sprouted off of the cutting last year.  The new growth this year is 18 inches so far.  I better up pot this again and stake it.  It seems this variety handles FMV without a problem.

The Panachee I got from UCD barely shows any and will grow like a weed in the summer time, it loves heat, but as Suzi found out in her climate it hates hot roots, since you are close to my location relatively speaking I have had no problem with it in black pot in the summer time, but on grass not concrete.

I think when you get it to the sun too the nodes will start to get more compact and the leaves will get a dark green colour, this is what I have personally seen with mine so it may be different with other peoples anyways.

The lime I will kind of agree with as I did it to a few trees showing the same leaf spots, but I also did add more fertilizer but if the lime isn't want what caused the turn around, I would be surprised.

Tom,

From the pictures it appears to be either N or K problem. Would try testing soil pH and nutrient values to see where your numbers are and adjust from there. Also if the tree is otherwise well try knocking off excess soil and repotting with fresh compost and soil mix.

As Chivas was pointing out with the light you may ave some light issues. What light fixture are you using?

Yes UcDavis Panache does very well with FMV
So does our UcDavis Black Madeira .

Here you can see the FMV in these pictures i mark, the classic spotting and the mottling of the leaves.

Despite that it grows very well here.
