PANACHEE seeds on ebay...

Is this how new cultivars come into existence? Do you guys think it is correct to change the names of cultivars. To utilize photos that do not pertain to the description of that being sold?

Here is an example.

This is why I don't go on eBay, just a loosing proposition, time and money

I buy from ebay but from people from 5his forum and if i am not sure i private message friends here that do know. That purple fig does not pertain to a tiger at all. They must not know that so no telling if they are even selling fig seeds. Lol. Lot of work for a couple bucks.

Is this how new cultivars come into existence?

No. Assuming these are fertilized fig seeds (they're just as likely to be carrot seeds), there is a very small chance that it will be a common fig and an even smaller chance it will be worth sharing. No one who has spent a minute reading anything about figs would even consider making that purchase. Outside of the LSU and UCD varieties almost none of the figs worth having come from seeds but from cuttings handed down for centuries.

Yes, fertilized fig seeds are how new varieties can become.  One only needs to look into Condit's, and LSU's breeding programs for examples.

But like Barnhardt said above, one would have an extremely small chance that the new fig plant would be good enough to propagate it.  I too have my doubts about those seeds referenced, I would think they could get the picture right.

Personally, I would love to try seeds.  What a lesson in patience.

Scam and fishing.
Some might get caught ... That's the law of the market.
The photo is not even true to type.
