My first Papa John fig, 2nd year tree. I'm impressed with the flavor and the sweetness. This is a good quality fig. The tree is fast growing and is loaded with figs, so many more to come!

Thanks for posting pictures and description.
I have a Papa John that was purchased last year. No ripe figs as yet, but it is covered with figs and seems to be a fast grower, it has put on about 3 feet on several (5) branches this year. It also seems to be cold hardy.

I was really hoping it would be good because I planted in the ground this year to replce another tree after it got smacked by the frequent frosts we got in march. I was not disappointed! In fact I was very pleased! It is the same size and color as LSU Purple, but different shape, and the interior is strawberry red. Very figgy flavor and sweet too!

I noticed it is a very fast growing fig too, and obviously it does not spoil easily either, because the weather down here has been aweful for fig spoiling. I hope y'all enjoy yours as much as I like mine, let me know when y'all get a ripe one!

Cal, thanks for posting about the Papa John. I'm in the process of culling my trees and need some that are weatherproof. My LSU Purple is as is my O'Rourke and Alma. No use growing trees that I can't eat figs off of.

good looking fig. i specially like the fig that will stain the flesh. and the fact that the fig can with stand the weather sounds like great attribute.
