paradise lost!!!

I started growing figs for number of reasons. However, one main reason is 'cause the story I read about ole Italian gent, and his paradiso tree. So... one of the first tree I looked for was paradiso. I cared for this tree and watched it grow, and its first fig swelling...

Came home today to check on that fig, and guess what. It's gone!!! I'm not happy. I don't know what or who took that fig, but it better not come back. Survivors will be shot again!!!

Pete

I have the Paradiso ( Morle) and have not been happy yet with it. But your taste buds may enjoy it.

Sorry for the loss.

Pete,

You're not the first to lose a Paradiso.

Sorry to hear this.

It's paradiso gene (white/green). Different from More''s paradiso.

I still have about 10 figs on the tree. I'm keeping my eyes on them.

Rafed,

So far, I have 4 out of 6 Unknown Israeli Red rooted, and growing. Thanks again.

Pete

4 out of 6?
I thought I sent you two only?

I came home today to find a paradiso that I have been waiting for swiped as well. I have picked others from this tree earlier in the season though . I was going to pick it yesterday but thought ah one more day to get real sweet .

Damn tree rats .

I feel for you guys, but today at lunch I ate my Paradiso, and boy was it good. I had been waiting patiently for it and when I checked it at lunch and it was ready, I didn't bother to run and get the camera. I just split it in half and slowly slurped it down. Very good and then I slurped the other half. I have a couple of others that are almost ready, so I'll try to remember to take a picture. By the way I saved mine by enclosing it in fig armor.

AAAAaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhh!! I feel your pain!  Danged fig robbers - despicable creatures all!!!  Only got 2 whole "almost" ripe BT from my tree that had over 50.

My "new" motto - "There's Always Next Year!"

p.s. - it's not new - we used it quite a bit when pulling for my college football team.  The Aggies have not always had winning seasons.  .

Net is the answer.
I also had one Paradiso ripe on my fig and it was gone last night.
I know what like Paradiso fig :Squirrel
I have no net on,because I have so many figs on so many trees, that it is enough for them and for me.
I have net on Ischia Black, and Malta Black at this moment only.
Birds have no idea when white figs are ripe, but Squirrel,go by the smell of ripe fruits and they never miss, green gray, black purple it doesn't matter they will know when is ripe!

Rafed,

Yupe. 6 cuttings. Two 3 cutting bundles with one White Greek rooted plant. Let me know if you need one of UIR. If they survive coming winter, I can send one of the rooted plant.

Pete

Lost mine to rain.  This variety really splits wide open.

TMC :Yours is not Paradiso white.

What do you think it might be?  I picked this up from Joe Morle at his florist/nursery two years ago.  It sort of looks like his picture of black triana on the figtrees.net website.  The original label is still in the pot.

Yes it looks like Black Triana.
It doesn't matter the name ,this fig is not good for your climate.
Paradiso white will never be as bad splitting.

Pete,

Go back to the PMS amd emails. I might have given you a different variant. Do you still have the bag?

There is no way I could have sent you that many. I thought I only sent you two.

Maybe one bundle was something else.
Do you still have the ziploc bag they came in? I could have written the names on it.

And no, I will not take anything back. If I gave you extra then they are meant for you.

Pete,

You think it was one of these guys?
