Paradiso exploded

I just got a Paradiso fig this spring. Got to try 2 figs from it, not bad but not anything to get excited about either. I thought maybe the next ones would be better then the rains came. After 3 wet days they exploded open. I only got a few more chances to try them but I got my doubts the rest will make it now that the rainy weather is becoming more frequent in my area in the Fall. Need to get more closed eyed varieties.

My Paradiso did the same.  I did manage to have one or two.  I don't think it was just the rain.  This fig seemed to suck the moisture right out of the air to explode.  Cool damp nights and mornings seem to make some figs split too.

Sooner or later, ALL good figs seem to 'explode' under the right (aka wrong)
different yearly climate conditions.
My Marseilles Black just did so.

Noss, The tree is in a container. I didn't eat them cause they weren't quite ripe and they had gnats all over them. Next year I'll have to watch the weather closer and move it when it's going to be a downpour. Now I'll have to wait for another year :(

Noss,
The raincoat for the pots sounds like something I'll have to do for next year. It would be nice to actually eat the figs instead of watching them go to waste.  As for that yellow fig you got, if it bursts open just from the dampness then I'd get rid of it too. No sense in spending all that time taking care of it just to throw out the figs. Say bye bye to your yellow fig for me.

We use a 12' patio umbrella during heavy or continuous rains. The sicilian brwn (?) bursts even under cover.
