Martin, I think the cold is beginning to affect you. ;-))

Rafed, Willingly ignorant, and proud of it.

I appreciated abundance of fruit this summer on many trees, like two apricots trees fruiting the first time; also Reliance peach fruiting the first time. However, the surprise was more fig trees ripened fruit than I expected. Some of the hardy grapes gave me token fruit the first time but it was a good sight to see some bunches on the vines. The summer started with good load of honey-berries on four different plants.
With the kind of temperatures we are having I doubt that Apricot or peach tree will fruit this coming summer because of the bud kill but we shall see.

Now if I go off tangent, it is because to give you something to enjoy during the coming deep freeze while waiting for Jon's list. It is from GW and contains a lot of pictures from Zone 3 in Canada far North. I am in Zone 5 but wish I could have half as good results as shown in here for different fruits:

OK please show some pictures !

My best fig memory from last year was being able to share figs with my father in law before he passed away. His sons don't have the horticultural interest that he did and I do, so he and I never ran out of things to talk about. Over the years we had shared tomatoes, peppers, apples, cherries and black currants with him. This past year it was figs, and he really enjoyed them.

After a long wait, (few years) many of my trees produced for the first time.  And the more mature trees gave me alot to be thankful for.  Here are some pictures to share that help to pass the time until Spring.  Eve

Each time I could pick a plate full, I felt so pleased, happy and of coarse thankful.

Zone 5-6 near Buffalo, NY

Ohhhh, Rafed, I can still remember how the air smelled when I was growing up in NJ and it snowed.  I can remember the smell of snow on woolen gloves/mittens.  So special.  I remember how quiet everything would get when we had a heavy snowstorm and I would go out at night and how beautiful everything looked covered with snow and how silent it would be and how the snow looked falling in the light of the gas street lights.  Even the train that would come through near us was quieter, it's Diesel engines just a low growl, muffled by the snow.  Everything would be lighter at night in the falling snow.

And then everyone would have to shovel that heavy snow the next day!

Hi Noss,
i enjoyed reading your paragraph about the beauty of our surroundings when one takes a moment to look at them.

I have many fond memories.

Being on the open road I get to see some of the most spectacular Sunsets, Mountain view, Night sky etc.etc.

Just too bad I can't park just anywhere to take pics.

Been in 115+ degrees F. in Laredo, Tx to 50 below F. in Edmonton, Ab.

I just might write a book when I retire.

Golden Atreano

Beautiful yellow color when ripe and a fast growing tree!
cheers,
