Pastiliere, Brogiotto Nero, Piedmont

Boy I tell you, some times it pays to cut grass around you fig trees. It's suppose to rain tomorrow so, my son and I started cutting the grass. I didn't want to cut the grass between the trees but I started and to my right I saw a large black fig. I checked the tag. It was Briogotto Nero. I picked it and moved down the row. Again to my right was a black fig. I checked the tag. It was Pastiliere.

So, I put the mower up and checked all my trees. And this is what I found:

The big one at 11 o'clock is Improved Brown Turkey. They were sweet. I withheld watering the past 4 days. None were watery, just marshmallow soft and sweet.

Those at 2 o'clock are Improved Celeste. Again, none split, just sweet figs.

The small black one at 5 o'clock is Pastiliere. Now, this guy was perfectly ripe. What can I say? Excellent! This was my wife's favorite.  Had a strong blackberry flavor.

At 6 o'clock is Brogiotto Nero.  This dude was a tie with Pastiliere but it did taste different.   Can't wait for more of these!

The one at 7 o'clock is Piedmont (thanks George!). Another super sweet large fig.

Thanks as always for posting Dennis. Not sure if it is my computer but whenever I click to open your pictures they do not open just a box appears and a circle in the middle that goes round and round.

Hi Dennis, I have problem with your pictures they can open for me when I try to enlarge them. I am wondering if I am only one with this problem?

LOL there is my answer.

Thanks for sharing Dennis.
I am also having trouble viewing your photos. They do not expand once clicked. Why is that? I do not have the problem viewing anyone else's photos. Have you recently changed how you upload photos?

Dennis, same as eden13. Can not enlarge your photos for some reason as of late. Thanks for posting them. I have been thinking about Pastiliere, now I know.

Sorry guys. I'll repost them tomorrow. I think I know what the problem is. Thanks for letting me know.

Same here pictures will not load.

right click and open it on new tab. works for me :) that Pastiliere looks wonderful Dennis.

pastIBTIC3.JPG pastIBTIC1.JPG pastIBTIC2.JPG pasteriliere1.JPG how about now?

I don't need to click them they look great.  Glad you found them.  Is your pastilliere from Baud or where?

Very nice

Lost my brogiotto Nero to gnats was a little disappointed

Guys, I got 1 Pastiliere Baud, it's small. I got 2 others. One does not drop its figs, the other one does. These 2 are pretty old around 7 or 8 years old. Both of these are 6 feet tall straight. I don't remember the source of these 2 trees. I have to go check the tags and my records. Both of the big guys are side by side growing in a pot.

dennis, would love to find out your source for the Pastiliere. i'm wondering if NC weather is working for Pastiliere. i have two Pastiliere Baud and one UCD Pastiliere. UCD Pastiliere is runt for me. it's not doing anything, but Baud ones are growing very well. they have figs on right now, but they don't look too promising. looks rather dried up then others. on other trees, when figs come out and start to look like one, they tend ot be plump, but figs on Pastiliere looks rather dried up.

Photos fixed!

Those really look nice Dennis, but still can't enlarge.
"gene"

Dennis, I still can't enlarge them either.

I got it open with 1 right click opened a option box  and clicked 'open Link"   but each one  had to be opened individually.
AWESOME AWESOME figs.
I'm going out and kick my Brown Turkey in the butt!

Sorry these pics won't open normaly for everyone.  I've ask Jon a few questions about the loader.  But a right click and open in a new tab does work in the meantime.  More to come.

Here are the pictures again.

Dennis, you have a beautiful fig up there!
I can see why Jon called his Pastiliere "Unknown", his was half the size of yours and dark red inside.

The first one I picked was red inside like Jon's, but not as large as his.

Yup there normally more on the red side when fully ripe and develop a beautiful bloom on skin in all day sun with fine hairs as seen here when i had a UcDavis cultivar.
