Pastiliere got too big

It was time my Pastiliere was either going to be root pruned and re-potted, or planted in ground. I had a spot below an owl box that I wanted to plant a tree, so that's where I put it. As I've written before, Pastiliere is a favorite, and it was handy having it close to my house at ripening time, but it is such a vigorous grower, I thought I'd like to see what it can do in the ground. Having a tractor and a helpful neighbor saved my aging back. Here it is in its new spot.

That fig sure gets to enjoy a nice view :)

Yeah, holy crap. Can I come live with you??

Looking great! Your Pastiliere has grown a lot faster than mine which was purchased and potted last year. Yours is also from Raintree, isn't it?

Sorry James, Ross, I've already got first claim on Gary's guest house! :)

Looks great! I'm surprised it is still dormant.  One of my Pastilliere cuttings now has roots and leaves so I'm looking forward to this one.  Did you see any sign of its reputation for being slow to set fruit?

Awesome property, I hope you have fish in that pond to go with your figs!

Hi Steve, no, to answer your question. I got it as a small, rooted, 1 gallon plant from Raintree, in April, 2014. I planted it directly into the wine barrel. It produced some very good figs in November, 7 months later. It had a great crop in 2015. The photos I showed were all taken 2 weeks ago. All of my figs are breaking dormancy now.
Yes, Sarah, it's from Raintree, and won't Dean miss you??
Thanks Ross and James. I'm fortunate to live in a lovely area.

What a beauty! I am sure it will like the new spot like we all do just looking at the photos :)
Good luck with it!
I wish I had more land like you do, my city lot got too crowded 2 years ago!

Very impressive tree!!  Nice area also:)

Not if I bring him! And the figs. The cat and dog would love it.

That land is so beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing the development of those young fig trees you put in the ground, and the figs along the shed.

I hope you get ten time as many figs each year!

Nice looking tree Gary.  I am sure it is going to love the new location.  Glad to see the required gopher cage.

Gary,
This is exactly what a young fig should look like  . Congrats! .
You sure have been giving her ...( here, the tree is a lady and the fruit is a male) best attention and  all candies she wants!
She shows 'health' and nice looks from top to bottom!!
Now I am curious to see how nice and sweet her fruits are .. any pictures ? thank you.

The tree will love being in its new home.

Thank you for the kind comments everyone.
Yes Dan, as good as I am at trapping gophers, and we have plenty, they are insane for fig roots.
Thank you, Francisco, for your appreciation of one of my favorite ladies. Here are her fruits;))

What a view!!!

Well, last year I posted about my Pastiliere getting planted in the ground. This year, she settled in, and was my first in ground tree to produce main crop figs. This week, they are particularly good, as we've got very hot weather for Sebastopol. Over 100F today.

This variety can require patience. About 1/2 of the crop dropped this year. The figs that ripened, though, are very worth the effort, IMO. A great fig here. People think that I'm in fig paradise, and that most figs will be great here. Though we have mild winters, and a long growing season, our cool summer nights delay ripening. I've only been getting main crop figs for about 10 days, and many are still weeks away.

I took these pics this morning.
