Penache

Here are a couple of Penache figs I enjoyed recently.  It has a great look with strong berry flavors and I just love the deep red interior.

That's a pretty fig

Thanks for sharing padsfan and nice Fig there for sure.

I have some questions:
is the skin tough?
your pictures show some stripes -was the fruit fully ripe?
did you notice the smelly leafs on the panachee too?

Thanks for sharing.  My 1 gal. baby Panachee has a few tiny figs that I should go knock off [image].  I havnt removed them yet becuse I love looking at them with no hope for rippening now.  Now I will vicariously enjoy your lovely fig.

Very nice!  I still have 4 on my young tree, 2 of them started to swell but not looking good for a taste this year.

Hi Eli, to answer your questions- the skin of Penache is not tough in my opinion, in fact less tough than other figs but thicker in general.  Second, the stripes fade as the fruit ripens to a dull green stripe and almost completely yellow fig.  Third, I didn't notice the leaves to be any stronger smelling than other figs.

I hope this helps.  I see you are in Israel.  I think this would be an amazing fig for that area, unless you have high humidity.  I've heard it is best in dryer climates.
