I just picked this Peter's Honey up from Adams Fairacre Farm today.

Not sure what I should be pruning off. The top part of the highest point isn't showing any green budding yet.

You can prune now, or wait another several weeks to see if higher buds will break. The higher on the trunk they are, the later they break. Or so it seems to me.

I'm not in a rush so I'll wait.. I just wasn't sure if this was typical. This is my first year having fig trees.

Need to wait until you see how the stems that are lagging do.  If those parts are weak you may be better off without them.
Have you looked at the roots to see if they need root pruning or up-potting?

Nice size tree Sal. I would also wait it out and see how it breaks. Best of luck with it. Awesome variety!

I just got it today so I didn't take it out of the pot yet.

Hi,
Since she would be kept in a pot, 3 trunks should be enough, unless you want to propagate that tree .
If you want to propagate her, add more dirt up to the top of the pot, and the stems will make roots up on each stem. Once rooted remove all except the 3 bigger .
The green root-sucker, if you don't need it, I would remove it asap .
Depending on your winter storage space ...I would remove the buds going inwards and let the buds going outwards develop.
The choice is yours :) .
You could well wait until July and act by then .

Well, you could now eliminate any of the shoots that you know for sure you won't use. I see one in particular, in your first picture it's coming from the branch on the left hand side of the main trunk. This new growth appears to be growing back toward the center, a total waste of resources as I see it. Fresh young growth like that will break off nicely, just grab it near it's base and bend it down towards the soil and maybe give a litte bit of a twist after bending down if needed. It should separate clean and easy from the old wood and leave no stump whatsoever. If you remove all the leaves except the top two from that separated shoot and put it in a glass of water, it will likely root, don't cut the bottom and change the water every few days/once a weekish.

I added numbers to the branches so you guys can tell me which is best to remove.. I'm too new to be removing anything without definitely knowing which ones to remove. Thanks for the help

Let them all grow, then this fall prune it to the shape you want.

I would remove #6 - the sucker, and let the rest grow.  I would also up pot it so it can put on a lot of growth and figs!

I see a few air layers there.....but first you must decide how you want to shape your tree.
