Peter's Honey pic

Here's a Peter's honey that ripened.  It's kind of small.  It might have needed another day, but was getting pretty soft to the touch.  I'm still inexperienced at knowing when it's time to pick.. lol

It's small and was kind of bland.  Remember, all of mine are first year trees, so I'm not concerned.  I had 9 of these trees, but gave away all but two.  I'll hang on to these two for sure.

There's a few more figs on this one, so I'll let the others stay on longer (if I can contain myself).

The best has yet to come.  I'd definitely hang on to them.  Looking forward to mine in a couple of years.

I have one in ground Peter's Honey tree too. It is about 3 years old tree. My figs had honey sweet taste and they were very good. Thank you.

Best,
Tam

Peter's Honey is one of those figs that takes awhile for the figs to be perfect.  James, mine use to look like yours but give it another year or 2 and man ole man, look out!  The figs will get large, the eye will split a little and it will ooze honey from the eye.  The skin will be a little tight and the figs will turn yellow but they will be excellent and extremely sweet.  I've got 4 trees and I'm getting ready to get a few more because I love that strong honey taste.  No doubt it's an excellent fig.

James,
My first ripe Peter's Honey of this season was actually very good. It is very similar to Kadota but ripens earlier. It also gets the honey drop in the eye when fully ripe.

Nice looking fig, Pete.  Thanks.

I actually gave away the tree that had a few figs.  Still got one left though.

Met a local guy that had a few trees in ground, one being a peter's honey.  He said that was his favorite.  He's going to be moving soon, so I gave him that tree to take with him.  I may be going to do air layers on his in-ground tree to see if they'll be done by the time he moves.  If they don't, then i'll have tons of cuttings available. lol..
