Petite Negra RT Brebas 2015

These are some brebas from my Raintree Petite Negra. This a very good variety in the Negrone/ VdB family. It is slightly different leaves and growth habit of my VdB. I have it in a 20gal pot, once it reached about 3-4 ft tall the internode spacing greatly decreased, keeping it truely..Petite. The first year I had this tree the figs were meh, 2nd year better/not too bad, 3rd year pretty darn good, 4th year something must have happened overwinter and it broke bud really late and barely grew and as a result didn't ripen any figs other than one worthless breba, 5th year has been so far so good and plenty of main crop to come.
This year the first few brebas were good despite the excessive rainfall we had been getting, not fantastic but definetly worth having. The last two breba ripened during hot dry weather..man were they delicious.

They look great!  Mine is first year so I have a couple more years to go before I get anything worthwhile.  How do the taste of these compare to a true VdB?

I don't know yet, but I will get the chance this season to compare. My VdB is now in it's 3rd season.

Yummy!
Congratulations, Calvin!

That looks delicious!  Congratulations Calvin.

Does anyone know the origin of this fig?  Reason I ask is I have petite negri and there is also petite nigra

Petite is French word for little
negra is Spanish word for black
negri is Italian word for blacks
nigra don't know may be some dialect

I didn't and haven't added any pictures of that tree on purpose. It was one of several trees that I started early this year and was shuffling from the sun room to outside on nice days. One very early morning when I went to work this spring it was supposed to be a nice day but the temps were still 38F when I put them out, a bad decision.. All the trees I put out took cold damage. The some recovered just find and some were stunted for a long time. The CdDG was one of the ones that for the most part was stunted but at least it held onto 2 breba and set a single main crop. There were many more main crop figlets forming but they were abandoned due to the damage. The leaves haven't really grown normal since, just a bunch of small/undersized leaves with mostly 3-5 lobes, not representative of what they looked like last year. I had the 2nd breba the other day, it wasn't as good as the first one and not as good as the last brebas from my PN.
