Petite Nigra

Hello everyone I just picked up a dwarf fig called petite Nigra it has fruit already at 6" does anyone have any growing tips for this var.. Should they be trained to attain height.

I'm confused, are you the nursery which also sells fig trees? If so, shouldn't you know this? 6 inches is generally considered too small to allow to fruit.

Hello Cis4elk, I am also an avid gardener. Agriculture is how I support my gardening habit. ;)  I have adept experience with many plants but wish to expand my knowledge into figs. Does the Petite Nigra require training to attain its dwarf size. My wife and I have agreed to turn up ground in our garden for a dedicated Fig Patch.

Petite Negra Fig A delicious juicy black skinned red-fleshed closed-eye fig that only grows to a maximum of 8' in full sun.  This variety can be grown in a pot.  An excellent non-commercial variety.

I thought Petite Negra was a different variety from Negri?

@ Noss, Thanks for the welcome. Wouldn't that suck if the plant reached 25' but the fruit was like 1/8"... LOLOL :)

Apparently there are two different trees. This is from FMD's collection     http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/Petit-Negri-Not-So-Petit-5472207

Floridahill, this is my three year old Petite Negri from Edible Landscaping. It is about three feet tall.

Wow that's sweet. Do you pull the fruit off or just let it grow. I have mine covered in fruit at 6"

@ newnandawg I believe mine are the same as the Logees var.

At 6" with lots of fruit, sounds like it is

I will probably will leave a few so I can see how the fruit tastes.
