A must have fig in my zone. Very good inspite of the rain for a few days. I remember last seasonit ripens to darker color inside & outside. This 1st Granthams Royal ripens in shade -- shadowed by leaves. I have more in the ripening state -- next 7 days are hot days.
Nice photos Paully!
Paully: Can you please let me know how cold do you normally get in the winter? Can you please describe the taste of this fig? The dark interior looks like honey, very nice and tasty. Do you have fig warps in your area? Thank for sharing. Best, Tam
@Tam -- No fig wasps here in Fraser Valley, British Columbia. Cold can get to -8*C/16*F without windchill. Lots dependson the artic winds. If they do come down, most times it is for about 5 to 6 days. My tree is unprotected for winter. Yes it is a good tasting fig. Not good in describing taste -- definite keeper. Will post interior pic of a nicely ripen Granthams R. soon.I will be picking a few for friend today as we are invited to his yummie BBQ this evening.
Looks amazing! Do you just get a Breba crop from that variety Paul?? Or is it 2 crops?
I had no idea that fig could survive those temperatures.
That's awesome that you can get breba from an unprotected tree. Sounds and looks like a great variety.
Paully your post makes me happy. I have a ganthams royal fig. Still young, no brebas. Do you have yours in the ground or containerized? Looks like there are lots of brebas.
My Granthams Royal tree is an in-ground.Gets full sun throughout the day. Lots of brebas. @Tylerj -- its a san pedro fig. Hence can only get the breba crop.
