Picked a few Pics

Haven't had much time to post lately but this is what I picked today. Most are from my in ground black unknown. Even though temps are still 90's day night temps have finally dropped below 80 and fruit taste and quality has improved IMO. We have been getting quite a bit of rain the past 2 weeks but this variety seems to tolerate it well
Hope all are having a good season

Ah Sal that looks like a nice snack.
Can you describe how they tasted to you.
Thanks

Nice looking figs Sal.

Looks like you've been playing Martins bootlegged CD and not telling us.

Thanks Rafed LOL ;)

Martin these in picture are not as ripe as I like but I picked for wife. I did eat a few off tree that were more ripe before I took picture and left a few on to ripen another day or two. It is hard for me to describe taste but they are sweeter when ripe with a flavor similar to mulberry my brother in law said Saturday when he tasted. I don't think I have ever eaten a mulberry and if I have I can't remember. I know I read you described that taste in a post but I forget which fig you mentioned. The sweetness is not as overbearing as I find in the Improved Celeste which to me masks the flavor even though I enjoy the Celeste also ( I hope that is not to confusing ) Hopefully next season you will taste and report I'm sure. The seed crunch seems to be more developed and pronounced now that the nights have cooled a bit

Yes thats why i dont grow Celeste. The mulberry taste was in the VdB i have been eating the "Chicago mulberry" i guess they call it,  i  never new it was a popular mulberry with a name. The mulberry's my brother an i used to eat were the dark types of course !
Once you have one you never forget its taste, so when i taste VdB i instantly said to myself darn i know that taste.
Then it hit me .   ; )
Glad to hear the fig was not overpowered by the sweetness but thats just me and how i like a fig.
Well next season i defintely get to taste them , your plant is doing very well and up against shed wih others in a crowd because of these high winds we have been getting lately.

Sal, those figs look great! Can't wait to taste some on mine. Any closer to an ID?

Hi Tim,  Sal G. Sicilian Brown Turkey??????  SGSBT#33 LOL

Looks like you got it nailed down except for the Brown Turkey part, lol. Looks more in the Sal's/Hardy Chicago family to me. My 2 cents.

Leaf does not look like my sals or hardy chicago nor does the fruit these are mature trees i have.
Now there is 1 tree Sal that it seems to match but i cannot pick a dominant one of this tree yet.

And the Mystery Continues. In a way it is kind of fun, like watching a dog chasing their tail ;)

Hi Martin, my trees were started last winter, which may explain the leaf difference.as they are still small. I don't have any mature trees to compare to, so time will tell.
