Picked up a pint of figs from local farmer's market (pic)

This gentleman has over 100 trees on his land.  He sells the fresh fruit downtown for $4 a pint.  I couldn't resist, and bought some.  The green/amber fig is Italian Honey.  He claims the small dark fig is Brown Turkey, and I don't think he knew the name of the other green/red fig.
Italian Honey was great!  Very sweet and a touch of honey flavor.  The supposed BT was very good too.  I thought it was Celeste, based on its size but what do you all think?  The green/red fig was okay.  Not as good as the other two.

Frank, nice plate of figs! Good way to see and taste several varieties all at once.

I agree, Mark.  It was nice sampling these.  I know I'll be keeping Italian Honey in my collection of trees.  :)

That's good to hear about the Italian Honey. Too bad he didn't know the other name.

I'm no expert but my guess is the small ones are a type of Celeste.

I believe Dotatto is very similar to Ital Honey, which is good news for me since I have one that put on some of the best growth this year.

Isn't it nice to just go purchase a fresh variety, cream of the crop sometimes?
No fuss, no muss, no effort required other than pulling out your wallet?
You didn't have to water or fight off birds, rodents or assorted furries, or worry over diseases, bugs, etc. or sweat in the heat or fight mosquitos, gnats, bees...
Just gimme some figs and thank you!
I love it! :D

Only the brown figs look ripe to me.  Ask him to save you some really soft ones next time.

You know the green unknown could've used another couple days. The Ital honey was pretty soft though.

Sophie,
I'm picturing you in a bee suit with a giant fly swatter and a garden hose LOL.

Nice haul, Frank.

Hey Frank

You mind posting the location of your "downtown" store where you picked up that nice pint of varied figs? Others in the area here might want to pop in for a treat. Tks!
