Superb tasting fig. We had the following figs this evening RdB, Nebo, O'Rourke, Salem Dark, Latarrula,Ginoso, Celeste and Jack Lily was the best tasting fig. First time we have figs from JL. Tree was never kept in green house
Great looking fig Paully.........looking forward for mine to grow up
Looks just like my White Adriatic.
Looking good Paul, I wish you lived in the States because this is one that I have been trying to find without success. Sounds great.
I have an unknown that looks just like that, actually just been waiting to see if its really a jack Lilly. Mine came from plaquemine parish as in it was not labled.CarlZone8b
Thanks for the pic.s. It took forever to find a Jack Lilly and I am very excited about the prospect of figs next year.mgg
Thanks for the info and the pictures, paully. I hadn't heard much about this variety before... glad to hear that it's another one that seems to do well in these more northern latitudes!Mike central NY state, zone 5a
Looks nice! Can you describe the flavor?
Paully, I have read this fig has a cantaloupe like flavor and very juicy, do you agree? Mike in Hanover, VA
I got to taste my first jack lily a couple weeks ago. I just put tis tree in ground not long ago. I wasn't sure if the fig was ripe or if it was stressed from planting. I touched it and it fell in my hand and when I split it open it was ripe so I ate it with out taking pics. It was very good especially from just being put in ground. I imagine it will get better. I bought my jack lily cuttings from Dan so I know they are the real deal.
It was very sweet & a definite keeper. I ate it so fast, it was a small/medium size fig. I wish I had at least half a dozen so that I can report on its taste profile. I mentioned above, it was the best tasting fig picked that late afternoon -- especially against RdB,O'Rourke, Celeste etc. Maybe Jack Lily sweetness overwhelm the other taste undertones.
Hello Paully.........yes I agree with you ,last year my LSU Jack Lily was the sweetest fig in my orchard of 50 other figs, looking forward for a bigger crop this year......
