Pictures of ripe Italian Gilden Honey, Alma, Atreano and VDB

These are all sweet, delicious figs for me. The Alma is a little darker skinned than usual, maybe because I left it on to ripen longer than usual.

I usually pick my Alma when it looks like this. No idea why it is so much darker this year. Still delicious though.

I just found my Alma, the tag only, its in Fig Heaven...LOL    I really don't hear very much about the Alma, but when I do its always positive, They say its good. I am planning on picking up some more small fig trees, this is one, on my radar. Thanks for the Postings..!!!!

There are many of my favorite figs and Alma is right up there!  Armando is correct!  You don't hear much about Alma but it is an excellent rich very sweet fig!  I let some folks taste test my figs.  They included, Hardy Chicago, Gino's, Tacoma Violet, Alma, Brown Turkey, and Celeste.  Everyone agreed, that Alma had the most flavor and very rich!  I think since it doesn't have a fancy name, folks turn away from it.  But they are really missing a treat!  Got Alma?  If not, you might want to get one!!!!!!

Looks good. If thats a recent picture I'm surprised these ripened up there in zone 5. Our figs leaves are still green and the fruit is maturing (7a) but 20 miles west of us the trees I see have all yellow leaves and look like they are ready to fall off (6b)

Nice pics, Scot.  But I thought Atreano had amber flesh?

Just picked yesterday! Still more to pick. This nice warm late season weather is helping them ripen tremendously

My Atreano is from Belleclare Nursery. If you look at one of my older posts 'My Belleclare Fig trees'' you can see the original tree that I bought with the tag still on it showing description. Green with red interior. These were really ripe, so they were a bit darker on the inside than usual.

Scot, do you think your Italian Golden Honey is different than the family of italian golden honey's I've come to known which include St Anthony, Marseilles, Lattarula previously posted? Your seems to have a much nicer juicy yellow amber interior. All the previous photo's I've seen of the italian golden honey's look a bit drier inside and with a more cream/tan interior. Has your IGH ever looked like below?

My Italian Golden Honey was purchased about 12 years ago from the old Paradise Nursery. I have made several trees from the original tree that I purchased. I really like it a lot. Mine also has a light pale colored interior. If you'd like some cuttings, PM me your address and I'll send you some after the trees go dormant. Here are 2 that I just went out to pick. They both could have went another day or 2.

Scot,I agree with Persianmd2orchard, your IGH looks like a superior strain or variety of Italian Honey/ Lattarulla
