Dominick this one was real juicy and I was very surprised by the flavour it had a unique flavour similar to roasted sugar.

Unfortunately the problem with Pingo de Mel is its a name applied to soooooo many figs, you can never pinpoint exactly which one is what.

I guess this proves you can never judge a fig by how it looks on the outside. Looks juicy and tasty.

Dominick what you said is true, I really dont know what to say.

Unfortunately new Portuguese author's give it a description that matches this fig having amber pulp while On Ira condit's monograph under Moscatel Branco Syn. Pingo de Mel Bobone mentions that it has red pulp.

 Very confusing and to make mater's worse it was also mentioned that it was an edible caprific on the same Ira condit monograph.

The problem also is we can't assume it's what one person's drop of honey is to another.

I never went back to where I bought my unk Port. on the south coast of Mass., but they had a Pingo de mel and who knows what it was. Never actually saw it but the older couple straight from Portugal brought the cuttings with them when they immigrated. Never asked where in Portugal they were from.

Dominick, I think I have to start getting every Pingo de Mel in reach and see wich are the same/different.  The Pingo de Mel fig is widely spread from Mainland portugal to all the islands Madeira & Azore's.
