Pingo De Mel, Kathleens Black, Large Negronne Breba 2014

More breba for 2014.

Pngo de Mel, very sweet with a melon and peachy flavor and very little crunch. First encounter with this one but it did not disappoint. I give it an 8 on the 1-10 scale and it has a lot of promise.

Kathleen's Black, like last year it was a disappointment. Not very sweet and not a lot of flavor. Maybe a 6 on 1-10 scale.

Large Negronne, first time tasting this one and did nothing for me. A little flat and not very sweet. About a 5 at best.

Well their goes my dreams of Kathleen's Black, will scratch that off my wish list......... Large Negronne, I have this one, will hope I get a better result. Thanks for posting.

Armando, the amount of heat that you have will turn any blent figs into heavenly morsels. you worry too much ;)

Thanks Aaron, I read this too fast, it says Breba, So sometimes the Breba are mediocre. So I am hoping for a Taste of Heaven...LOL

Mike thanks for the pics and info. I have a lot of brebas this year but nothings ripened yet.

Armando do not give up on Kathleen's Black. It's an excellent variety.

Great pics and thanks for sharing Mike.

We are still waiting on our Negronne first crop to ripen. They look good and maybe a couple weeks and they will be ready. Main crop looks good too.

Nice pictures...thanks for info

Mike,

It must be the heat from your concrete driveway. I have nothing even close to ripe and I am so close to you. I think we moved our figs outside about the same time as well.

Phil, if this was last year I would say yes. However, these three and all but 10 others are either planted or the pots are buried about 8 inches deep.

I don't know what it is but I have some trees that are loaded and it want be long. It may be my secret feeding program this year.

Mike,

If you don't watch out I will be doing some "secret feeding" in your yard at night.

Hey Phil, I want be home for a few days so you can just drop by and help yourself. LOL

Hi Mike , those are great looking figs. I'm looking forward to getting some Pingo de Mels this year and was happy to read your description on them.
Sooo what's your secret feeding program!!?? Hope it really works for you and then maybe you'll share ;)

Nice figs
As the trees age and good care is given to their root system, renewed soils, fertigation, sun exposure  etc.. so the fruit will reflect all that in size, taste, colors and aromas.

Good figging
